2016-17 State of Russian Ladies skating

Well Russians are known for looking for enemies around them instead of focusing on their faults or even harmless oversights (look for doping drama and agendas), it's part of their mentality and samkrut is also Russian. I really like this poster but it's generally true, it's ingrained in their culture.

The same could be said about a lot of other countries, including, explicitly, the country of Poland.

Didn't the admins just close the politics section in the forum? And for a good reason?

Not really. Poles (bar some deluded nationalists) don't tend to look for fault or unfortunate events everywhere else but not in themselves. There are huge differences between Poles & Russians.

Particulary, poles are known to be hostile and rude about russians, which seems to be your case (if you disagree, please read your previous posts again).

Could you folks please take your differences home and not bring them to this board? If you have any issue with russia, how is it related to figure skating?
Also, unless there is proof, please do not accuse innocent skaters of doping just because they beat your favs.

I think there would be less of an issue if people just did their research and didn't rely on catchy headlines to feed their biases. I disagree with the 2014 outcome but Adelina had a type 1 scratch. No evidence other than that. It could have resulted from many things. Media and online posters should stop jumping to conclusions.

Being rude and hostile isn't a "Polish" or a "Russian" thing. It is just a jerk thing. So stop being jerks to each other please.

Anyways, I am hoping Anna Pogorilaya kills it at Euros. With Evgenia's consistency, the rest of field is fighting for silver so I am hoping she can show the Russian nationals result is not accurate.

I'll be cheering for Anna too - I do really like her LP, especially when skated with power, it is very effective.

Note: I have nothing against the others - Evgenia, barring disaster, seems to have things in the bag, anyway - but of the three, I just happen to like Anna best.:)

I don't accuse innocent skaters of doping. I think that Adelina was clean as innocent till proven guilty is my view on such things - I don't read or trust in any second-handed stupid gossips or blogs. So far there's 0 info on her being doped up in any reliable source, I am not among Russia-haters or Korean-Yuna-trolls. You mix two different things. I just seem to recall Russians posters trying to neglect certain problems related to their country like doping cases, accusing others of witch-hunt etc, those bad Westerners etc. It has nothing common with whatever I posted in that thread. I just think that people on this board undervalue cultural differences between different countries, Russian media portray issues in different light than non-Russian media for example and it has its influence on their reactions and beliefs. Maybe we should stop it there as we're all diverting off-topic for a while.

So is Sostkova's place on the world team a done deal, or does she have to perform reasonably well at Europeans?

They announced that she is on the World team. She placed above Anna at Nationals so she was the second named member on the team.

I think Maria did exceptionally well at GPF too so the Fed has faith her to do well. Pogorilaya was a question mark last year due to her GP series performances.

That makes sense. It looks like she beat Elena in both head-to-heads this season, so I suppose the decision is justified.

They have NOT announced the Worlds team yet and will not until late February at least. This tweet means nothing.

Well, lets see:
1. There are tons of people claiming adelina has doped (check around this forum).
2. Also, there are tons of people just accusing russian skaters in general (0 evidence).

Then, you conclude, the russians are accusing others of witch hunt etc.

Before we go back to topic, i think you owe the russians in this thread an apology for making uncool generalizations.

Wow, I think you owe Ares an apology for insinuating that they accused Russians of doping. And for your generalization about non-Russian GS posters accusing Adelina and other Russians of doping, too.

Let's also remember that although our discussions here are in English, not everyone's first language is English so they might not achieve all of the nuances of what they mean, which may lead them to accidentally make generalizations that they don't intend. It doesn't mean they owe anyone an apology or that they should accused of having malicious intent or being anti-whatever.

That said, I do find it strange that whenever someone makes a reasonable criticism about a Russian lady, they are accused of being haters or trolls (those do exist, but they aren't everyone who has criticism to say) but people can say whatever negative things they want about American ladies and no one starts whining about anyone being anti-American or a hater or a troll.

Sometimes people have different opinions. :confused2: If someone doesn't like Evgenia or disagrees with her scores, why does that upset some people so much? Sure, there are some trolls who make annoying topics or are obnoxious and insulting, but that is what the ignore button is for.

Europeans are going to be interesting. If Sotskova makes podium, I guess, the season will be over for Radionova. If she loses to Caro (I don't see any other realistic contender) they may give Radionova another chance through the Cup of Russia. Although realistically it is going to be Evgeniya-Anna-Maria this year.

I hope it will have more to do with performance rather than result. After all, if an almost-UR-free / clean Maria loses to a brilliant Carolina, I would hate to see Maria kicked off the team. If Maria suddenly skates poorly in both programs, that's another story and Elena could have a chance.

Maybe Radionova will look in better shape at the Universiade? If that's the case, it will all come down to Cup of Russia.

There are only Balcony 2 tickets available for men's and ladies free in Finland, too. There are other possibilities for ice dance and for exhibition. Finns welcome all skaters to Finland and their fans, too.
btw I started to think about gowing to the comp
Maybe too late tho:biggrin:
Idk I can affrod to stay for 2 days
Maybe exhibition
I hope something can be seen from the balcony:biggrin:

Mishin is waiting for Liza to make that NOTORIOUS 3A again... :( I really don't want to see her career ending like this...

Even if Liza retires without making another world team, a WGM and landing multiple 3As are tremendous achievements that she can be very proud of.

Absolutely. In fact, considering there are so many decent Russian ladies, I wouldn't mind if Liza has never got another worlds gold medal. I would rather some other lady got it. Radionova, Pogorilaya and Sotskova don't have worlds gold medal yet. No one will ever be bale to take away from Tuktamysheva that she is a world champion, so even if she gave up on competing, hopefully she will have the opportunities in various shows. I am not saying that she should retire, but there are skaters who need the title more (for their post competitive careers).
