There is no Schnittke piece called Butterflies are Free. The piece Anna Ovcharova used for her SP in 2014 of that name is actually from The Story of an Unknown Actor. Schnittke did however write the music for a short animation called The Butterfly.

If her SP is also Schnittke, I hope it's the Agony Tango/Tango In A Madhouse. That would be very cool!

In her SP, she will be a cocoon who turns into a butterfly for the LP. Don't know it a tango would work for that. But then again, Tchernyshev made a program for Sotnikova where she was a butterfly and was skating to Oblivion so anything is possible.

Color me skeptical.
And? It's an exhibition piece, as was already said before. I think exhibition numbers are the right vehicle for experiments with new choreographers and styles (music and movement). If there are people who dislike the music and style for them (or in general), it's not a huge problem, as it would be if it was an FD and judges were the people who disliked it.

No, you are not a minority. I am tired of pop music either. I actually turn sound off, or not to watch at all. From the point of music psychology ( I do work in this field)...anyway....

:agree: If the skaters at least were original in their choices BUT I remember the ladies SP at Euros and I could swear I heard 'Feeling Good' at least 5 times (and feeling progressively worse with each time) but I went to check it and it was only twice actually - would have been 3 times if Nicole hadn't hastily replaced hers with the previous season Romeo & Julia's.
I do turn the sound off when it becomes unbearable but it is not exactly the same thing is it?

I'm all for original choices. Or even better, thinking more outside the box and do mixes of theme songs from TV shows. I have at least 3 mixes in my head that could work.

What's up with all those skaters clinging to Buble :slink: I am fed up to the back teeth with that. Enough is enough.

It's been that way a long time - I don't watch most galas, but whenever I did watch, it seemed that someone or other would be skating to Feeling Good... (probably one of the reason I didn't watch many galas;) Apparently the fellow holds a deep fascination for figure skaters... So much so that when I heard vocals would be allowed, basically my first thought was: "Oh, great! More Michael Buble!"
