2016-2017 Programs by Discipline

What was the most interesting about Liza's program wasn't necessarily the music, but her jump layout. 3T+3T, 3Lz, 2A. Does that mean she's abandoning the 3A? I think it might be a good idea for her- if she can get those other triples back to where they were in early 2015, she can still hang with the best.
Her music and choreography is uninspired and recycled, but I can accept that as long as she can find her jumps. Give me that Lutz, girl!

She should move her 3T-3T to the second half of her program and maybe her 3Lz, too. For now, I hope she stops trying the 3A.

:rolleye: - Sorry, but that was my reaction. Many people are quite limited in their perception of music (and many other things too). Most of it is obviously just too "weird", "crazy", "screechy", loud etc. for them. I don't know if you are among those people, but you give the impression of being two of them. And Bjork bad? Sure, she has songs that are not exactly brilliant - just like everyone, including the greats - but this is not one of her weaker songs. It's just not your standard/conventional/traditional music (even though it's basic style is very traditional). Come to think of it, Bjork has never been conventional. In my book it's a good thing, but I know that many people think differently indeed.

My only note here: I am a full time student studying music/text analysis, so I definitely am not "limited in [my] perception of music." I just really hate this song. Sometimes people have opinions that you don't like. :confused2:

De gustibus non est disputandum.

Stanislava Konstatinova (Cirque Du Soleil) and Serafima Sakhanovich (Man with the Harmonica/Amelie) both have the same LP as last year.

It's not just about different opinions. It's about reasons why you and RemyRose (RemyRose in particular) "hate" this song. Perception (of music and other things) can be limited in different ways, and the reasons RemyRose named for disliking this song that you seemed to agree with made me think that maybe both of you are limited in your pereceptions in a way. Also, disliking, even hating a song is one thing, but saying that it is bad is another thing. Of course, it's normal that you think something is bad if you dislike it. But you have to realize that not everything is bad just because you don't like it.

lol k bye

Consider me impressed by this program at this point in the season. The jumps aren't all there, which is to be expected for anyone in August, but this program looks more choreographically intricate than the programs she has done her past two seasons, and there seems to be a story here. I don't LOVE the music, but given the correct execution, has potential to tell a story and to be epic. I'm also very grateful not to be seeing the same old arm movements that worked in 2014-2015 that she repeated last season.

I'm not anticipating this to be her final costume, but I appreciate the less is more approach reflected in the video. Give us something simple and nothing drapey. Liza doesn't have great lines and she probably never will, but her body line does appear to more advantage in a streamlined costume as opposed to a muumuu.

Her ice coverage still leaves a lot to be desired, but that is something that could improve as general fitness improves.

Sima: I am glad she kept her LP from last season, I cannot help but wonder how beautiful it would look with stable jumps.
Stanislava: Well... I had only heard mentions of her before, so I shall abstain from saying nothing but tough luck on the slipped loop.
Liza: Music is better than last year's, and hopefully her performance will improve during the season. Right now, she just seems to focus on the elements and forgets the music.

Virtue/Moir will be skating to Prince for their SD.

Regarding Bjork, she's someone I wish I could like more than I actually do. I like that she's cool, unconventional, really took electronica far, and does cool things with her voice. But I can't say I actually like her music. I used to like "It's Oh So Quiet" because that song was something wildly different from what was being played on MTV during that time period and was refreshing for its time. But I can't listen to it more than once because I do find it screechy. I will say I loved her in the movie Dancer in the Dark even if Lars Von Trier is overindulgent, but he wouldn't be him if he wasn't. The song from the movie, "I've Seen it All", and her performance of it at the Oscars is one of my favorites and IMO should have won the Oscar.

I need to watch the performance, but for me, the real issue is that Leonova always picks music that seems exciting on paper, but her actual skating to it leaves much to be desired.

This is the Liza's first costume I actually like. Simple & effective. Alas the SP costume is all wrong as per usual. Whoever designs for Liza doesn't follow basic rules. Liza is rather small she needs every trick to elongate her figure visually. That little cardigan or shirt or whatever it is cuts her in two and makes her look even shorter than she is. She should stick to mono colour, vertical lines, simple cuts. Hope she keeps this little black dress (but ditch horrible gloves please)
