2016-2017 Programs by Discipline

Yuzuru's SP is Let's go crazy by Prince (choreographed by Jeffrey) http://youtu.be/AuDrWPlyib0
And his Lp is choreographed by Shae-Lynn and it seems to have many cuts from this playlist "Hope and Legacy by Joe Hisaishi": http://youtu.be/skmMiNKBrJE?list=PLL9w9U7tcFYHkbWdtbLhLm6Q2kqV-JUq7

Whaaa... Hanyu is made for Prince (Can see him miming the words already).. and Joe Hisasihi (Finally... squee)!!!! I can't wait!!! Suddenly this season could be his most exciting yet!!! Let loose! Great choices!! And good choice of choreographers!

Any words on Mao's new programs this season?

I think she's staying with Lori. :bang:

UGH, that Hanyu free program music already gave me chills.
Wait until he adds the 4Lo to it and someone will need to spot me whenever he skates in case i faint.

Stolbova/Klimov:

SP: 'Clair De Lune', Debussy
FP: something modern, similar in style to last year's program

http://rsport.ru/figure_skating/20160911/1074796210.html

If they are helathy and injury free, they plan to start the season at Finlandia Trophy.

Unexpected choice for their SP IMO expecially considering that Kavaguti/Smirnov are also skating to Claire de Lune but it's interesting.

Stolbova/Klimov used to skate to Claire de Lune in Galas too in 2010.

Yuzuru's practice video this morning on tivi: http://dai.ly/x4t3ioh
And here: http://dai.ly/x4t422e

His layout will be 4Lo, 4T3T and 3A in SP
And 4Lo, 4S, 3F, 4S3T, 4T, 3A2T, 3A1lo3S, 3lz in LP

He still feels pain in the leg but he can still skate.

4 quads in the FP. OMG!!!!! Someone in the forum wondered who and when will break Hanyu's records. I think we already have the answer. If he skates clean, with this layout he will beat himself and break his own records.

I think Mao's programs were announced in June or July:

Mao Asada JPN
SP Ritual Dance by Manuel de Falla, piano version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyDyfLi_PQ4)
LP Ritual Dance by Manuel de Falla, orchestral version
EX Bach's Sarabande and Bouree from his Cello Suite No. 3

Excited about Yuzuru skating to Hisaishi work! I hope he stays recovers fully and is able to skate without pain. The 4L into a spreadeagle was stunning. :hap10:

Any words on Mao's new programs this season?

She already skated her EX and SP (although the rink was tiny, so we'll have to wait a bit more until seeing the programs, SP especially, skated at full ice coverage).

EX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuMCGGlPOUU
(Music: Sarabande and Bouree from his Cello Suite No. 3. Theme is "the love of skating". It has a bit of school figures thrown in, and a lot of ballet-inspired difficult footwork. Perhaps the most challenging EX Mao's done so far, the fans were commenting that it looks more like something created by TAT rather than Lori. Sadly, I can't find the version in the modern costume, where she landed all her jumps cleanly).

SP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyDyfLi_PQ4?t=58
(The music sounds like Cutmore's arrangement of Ritual Fire Dance, with a bit of Midnight at the beginning. In her own words, Mao portrays a "sinister spirit". Love the footwork :luv17:I think the program was a bit modified for the smaller rink.)

LP: An orchestral arrangement of Ritual Fire Dance from El Amor Brujo. Mao said she portrays a fierce woman, and the music has a bit of flamenco feel to it. It will be debuted soon at Trophy.

Mao chose the SP/FS theme/music - she said usually she had trouble picking the music as there were many pieces she liked, but when she heard Ritual Fire Dance, she liked it so much she couldn't even pick between the piano and orchestral arrangement. In the end, they went with a SP and LP that, when combined together, creates a whole story. Judging from the SP and Mao's descriptions, it looks like Lori was inspired by this ballet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDUAzdsIjt4), and Mao plays the protagonist in the LP, and the evil spirit (2:17, ) in the SP.

The EX music was chosen when Lori invited a pianist to work with Mao to help her improve on her understanding of music. Mao picked the music that allowed her to move naturally (and apparently, to show off her skating skills  ).

I guessed the (competitive) music before it was announced (on FSU), so obviously this is my favourite choice ever. :hap93: ;)

really interesting and exciting choices for both programs - I trust Jeff/Yuzuru SP collaborations, they are always a hit for me, and adding iconic Prince music it will be something to witness for sure. As for FS - finally, a Japanese skater - and what a skater - is taking on Joe Hisaishi music, for so many years I've wanted a Japanese skater to use 'Mononoke Haim' music, now my wish is sort of in making I think :) (I hope there will be Mononoke Haim program some time in future too!), there will a LOT of drama and mini heart attacks for his programs looking at layouts planned, that's for sure, but as warrior of revolution, progress and hard work Yuzuru is, this should be expected to surpass his own standards set last seasons

I don't know if it is just me, but I think it would be better if it were Tarasova who choreographs Mao's SP and FS.
