Definitely a "wow" kind of program. Very happy for him -- and for us!

I thought Tarasova's programs for Mao were pretty awful. Tarasova always depended on good collaborators who could help her create programs (they'd do most of the legwork) while she would fine tune their vision to give it an extra punch, like with Shanti Rushpaul/Morosov (whose best work was under her, IMO)/etc.

Disagree.

Sheherazade SP, Rach FS, Masquerade SP and Swan Lake FS are probably in my top 10 best programs of all time in figure skating, and most of the program of that list are choreographed by Tarasova.

Overall i think the way Tarasova see Figure Skating (where the athleticism is everything) fits much better in Mao than the soft choreographies of Lori Nichol. For example i would enjoy much more the new Ritual fire dance SP with the Tarasova steps sequence at the end.

But i do agree the rest of your statement, she needs a good team behind.

Overall i think the way Tarasova see Figure Skating (where the athleticism is everything) fits much better in Mao than the soft choreographies of Lori Nichol.

This is so true! Thank you. I've been trying to figure out why I don't quite connect with Mao as so many people do, and I think this is it. It's like a way of being that doesn't quite fit the person underneath ... at least, the way I perceive Mao.
