2016 US Nationals Senior Ladies SP

Damn. One contender after another going down in flames. Although, if they ALL do...

How 'bout Michelle at 2001 Worlds qualifying round when her heel detached from the boot in warmup on a double axel? She had to abandon the warmup at that point and still went out and produced a 7-triple long program.

Anyway, I've always been a huge Mirai fan since her win in juniors back in 2007, but she just doesn't have the same spark. I don't like her music here, but I don't think there's any music that's going to make her just magically turn on. She just looks bored when she is skating. She's older now of course so it will have transformed, but she needs to have the energy she had with her Carmen free program in 2010. Either way I think she's really a great skater and I always find things I enjoy about her programs even if she skates poorly.

This is actually a very good example. I was at that event and fortunately her dad was there to fix the problem. I never heard whether or not her boots were old or that it was manufactured error. When it happened to Tonya Harding, She said it was because her boots were old. I guess we'll have to wait and see if this is the case with Mirai. I certainly hope not...

Good for Tyler. Not gonna lie, I won't be too upset if she ends up snagging the last spot on the world team if it means we can see that I spin again

I thought Sakoto's jumps are controversial due to pre-rotations??

It was nice to see, as someone who is not really bothered by the lack of height in Satoko jumps, because she usually is criticized for that. Karen and Vivian have huge beautiful jumps, but they don't know how to control their technique all the time, leading to inconsistency.

I can't believe that there's around 300 Koreans watching the live stream of a U.S figure skating competition :eeking:

There was a stream that sabinfire posted last year and it had that many Koreans watching it. :) Hopefully this gives KSU a sign that they should start caring more about figure skating.

I'm sad the funky program she had before she went back to California never saw the light of day...Solid skate though!

I never really paid much attention to Tyler, but that was a beautiful performance. I couldn't stop watching. :clapper: Well done!

That was really good! (And I've never heard of her before, why?)

And the music so so so lovely:love:

Who woke up today and decided it was time to watch US Nationals so I can trash their ladies as a whole in a thread where I know fans of US ladies will read?

Critiques are fine but dismissing a competition of 22 ladies is just too much.

I think Vivian has lost her JW spot if Tyler skates well for the FS.

Would Tyler want to go back to junior worlds? She hasn't had the best of luck there...maybe redemption...

Leaving Kori Ade was a smart move for Tyler.

She wasn't really with Kori long enough to say one way or another, imo. Less than a year.
