Yes I understand that. It's just that I wonder if they do watch the movies because there is often a huge disconnect btw the feeling of the music in the movie (which it was composed to represent) and the vibe the skater puts out while skating to it. If that makes sense.

Personally, I want songs to be their own entities. Even if it was made to represent something, it's possible that it represents something different even better that the composer might not even have thought about. It's just background music for a movie scene, but that doesn't mean it's the only scene it could be background music to.

Same in aikido. Theoretically same in figure skating, but someone rushed through that lesson plan
