Almost half of the score is composed of PCS, so I don't fully agree with you on the above, but let's wait and see the results

I don't agree with how PCS is handed out but it's a numbers game. The judges are liking what they see so they are dishing out the points there. Do I agree? Nope. But I can't do anything to stop that system so let's not take it too seriously. The WR only holds that prestige and power if we assign that meaning to it.

Exactly!!! I don't think anyone should take a figure skating WR too seriously anyway.

Amen to that! Even in "more objective" sports, where you have a chronometer settling it, IMO beating a record is good, but it does not mean that the previous record holder is now good for nothing. In Figure Skating, with the ever-changing rules and the fact that it's up to the judges, records' importance is fairly relative. After all, we still enjoy plenty of skates from the 6.0 era, and some of them even got "only" 5.9s.
