Why Taiwan in sport is still called "Chinese Taipei" ?

To avoid offending China, whose government and majority of people insist that Taiwan is still a part of the country, despite all evidence to the contrary. This is a massive deal. Recently, a member of a Korean girl group who was originally from Taiwan waved the Taiwanese flag in the background of a web video. She and the group got pilloried by Chinese media and netizens. The group was blacklisted in China. She had to make a very somber apology. As you can see, this is a delusion of China that much of the rest of the world has to coddle.
