2016 Worlds, General Info & Entries

I find all the changes very confusing! I checked the frequently asked questions on the Worlds 2016 website and there is no mention of tablets not being allowed. The TD Garden website only bans laptops. Honestly, how can they expect people to know tablets are banned when the only people being told are reading message boards!

Allowing the sealed water bottle was changed and then fans wanted to know if they could bring in empty bottles. I attended U. S. Nationals in St. Paul in January and we were allowed to bring in empty bottles. But, TD Garden says no empty bottles and no sealed full bottles.

Here is a thought - if you purchase a bottle of water you might want to leave it in the cup holder when you clear the arena or you will not be able to bring that bottle back in for the next event. I seem to remember that there were cup holders, but if not, maybe leave the bottle on your seat. Don't try concealing it or it might be thought to be suspicious and get you in trouble.
Thank you for your tip on the water bottle. At this point I might as well try to gulp it all down. I hope the water bottles don't come in one liter size :noshake:. I'm also upset about the tablet and the ambiguity of the wording leaves me a bit unnerved. Is "kindly ask not to" the same meaning as "prohibit", will they enforce their "kind request" and turn the tablets away????? :scratch2:

I also feel bad for Polina. She cleaned up some of the problems she had been having with underrotations and edge calls on her flip and did a really nice job at U. S. Nationals. I hope she takes the time to heal this injury.

As a Mirai fan I was totally blown away by her SP at Nationals. To me it told the story of her life...demons which have beset her in competitions, lack of confidence...all those things. I actually cried during her SP. The FS was quirky and cute, kind of dancey. Some fans have been complaining about the music cuts in the FS. I really didn't care much about that and just enjoyed Mirai skating well and doing a more lively performance in the FS than I have seen in a long time. I hope you thoroughly enjoy seeing her!

I'm sorry about Polina's injuries yet sooo excited for Mirai. This is the best news (for me) after a rough day...., so please tell me it's not an early April's fool joke. I can't believe that I'd be able to see Mirai skate live.

I can't remember if the water was a 16oz or a 20oz bottle. It was not a liter. If you leave the empty bottle by your seat you might be able to refill it if you can find a water fountain or at a sink in the restroom.

The tablet issue is really strange. As I said earlier, it isn't on the frequently asked questions and I don't know how they can enforce something without posting it under prohibited items. I suppose if you got to TD Garden for a practice which isn't important to you and you bring your tablet and are turned away you could take it back to your hotel or car. Another option is just observe what happens to other people who have tablets - if they are allowed in you could try to get yours in the next day.

No matter what happens with all of this stuff, the skating will be amazing!

Here's a question... for things like the early men's and dance groups where there aren't many people there, is moving up seats a possibility? Or do the staff come round and check people's tickets or something?

It's my experience that they don't check. Just act like you know where you're going and find an empty seat. The rightful seat owner may show up but you just move to another- there are always plenty of vacancies at early rounds.

But what if the closer view is so awesome that you then get distracted by your disappointment of the higher view later on? Easy to upgrade but very difficult to downgrade 😅

It is very unfortunate that there doesnt seem to be anyone capable of changing website info. Andrew emailed me...NO TABLETS!!!! It needs to be posted. If its not and someone brings one, I could see someone going postal....I have seen hysteria at worlds before.

I am sorry for Polina...I have been voting for her for weeks now for the Team Challange Cup....but I too love Mirai and I bet my day was worse than yours!!! Anyway, it will be nice to see her again....

ok, After hearing Mirai will appear, I bought an all event ticket at 1:00 AM this morning, got the last available seat in Loge 19, in fact one of few all event tickets left in the whole Garden. Selected will call for delivery. Sorry I didn't research this as I wasn't expecting to go until a few hours ago. I assume I now need to buy a separate practice ticket online?? Do I buy one practice ticket, or a separate one for each day? Since I read somewhere they are only available to all event ticket holders, how will the computer know if I am an all event ticket holder?

I saw many posts on food and drink and ipads. Does anyone know about a camera policy? In 2014, I was permitted to bring in my DSLR with a 200mm lens, but it appears some rules have changed?

The TD Garden website has now been updated. Here is a link: http://www.tdgarden.com/td-garden-policies/ Laptops/Tablets and Selfie Sticks are now banned.

Guess that finally answers any questions.

The practice pass will come with your all event tickets. You don't have to purchase it separately as it is included with your all event tickets. Also it just 1 pass that looks just like a ticket and works for the entire event for practices at TD Garden (and only TD Garden). There is very limited seating at the practice rink and I think there was some kind of contest for those practice passes - but that is over now.

There is some camera info at this link: http://www.tdgarden.com/td-garden-policies/
There is additional info at the Worlds LOC website: http://worlds2016.com/faq/

Oh another thing: I've only been in the skating fandom since the 2014 Olympics so it'll be weird to me for a World Championship happening in the same TIME ZONE as me due to last year being in China and 2014 in Japan...I won't be able to "wake up to see results."

I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered. Is there somewhere I can go to find the practice group assignments? If I remember correctly, the groups are assigned by country but I want to know the actual number or letter assignment so that I can link it with the practice schedule. I'm arriving Monday around 10:55 am and will probably break all records getting to the TD Garden to watch Mirai practice. I'm so excited to know that she's going to be at Worlds. I wasn't planning to attend the ladies' practice that day and was going to leisurely get to the arena for the dance practice sessions.

I second the practice group assignments...trying to figure out when I need to get in to catch the top skaters in practice...

Thanks for the info for this last minute traveler. I now remember you also gave me a lot of useful info for St. Paul. Thanks again.

Here's another request for practice groups. If anyone can find/post them, it would be greatly appreciated.
