2017-18 State of Russian Ladies skating

why Alena hasn't even skated yet, I have never bought into the Konstantinova hype, she should be competing in seniors already.

she might not getting a chance to skate, if samodurova will do what she must:( i either can't understand why konstantinova is so beloved in russia. the only explanation i hear on why she is good is that she is "mature". so i guess that people are just liking the fact that she's older than the other girls

Samodurova has no 3-3 and Konstantinova only a bronze, Alena has a chance to get a second assignment. But; she must win gold or silver with a 185+ score no less in her first assignment.

Pretty sure most Avdotya's are slow these days.

exactly! what i mean is that some of those oldstyle names are sometimes used in a little bit offensive way by russians, like, to point that person is goofy or something like that. So, for a native speaker it sounds a bit disrespectful to her. But i understand that it is hard for non-russians. Just call her Dasha :)

samodurova has a 3-3, last season she was jumping 3Lz-3T in the short. and not having a 3-3 in the free skate is not a big deal, as long as you have a 7 triples program. having only a 2A-3T in the free did not prevented satoko miyahara from having the highest BV in seniors

I really enjoyed both Konstantinova's programs. She just has that quality that draws me me.
Really don't know why she did not move up to senior.

I just realized, rusfed could go mad, and send Konstantinova and Samodurova to Poland and Italy! Zagreb is a least competative event. So clean Sonya should take the second/first (if Tarakanova will fall) place.

Yesterday I rewatched Alena's FS. Gosh, she is pure tenderness.:love::love:

Samodurova might get the second spot because she's consistent but at JGP Croatia there is a tough field.

Mako Yamashita was strong on her first GP this season, You Young won senior nationals in Korea a couple of seasons ago at the age of 12 or 13, and Kaetlyn Nguyen is one of the strongest in US.

tjb already bought Korean and Japanese flags to support them against Sonya

At this point, it doesn't appear that the Russian Ladies have any problems that I can think of. Unless, being too good is a problem. Alexandra TRUSOVA Just won in Minsk by more than 10 points over some very good skaters. The Russian Ladies are in great shape and it appears they will stay that way for years to come.

Maybe because she's such beautiful, kind, warm, honest and overall adorable skater and person?

poor nastya gubanova missed a junior worlds last season because of her. and now she's trying to steal a grand prix spot from baby alyona. that's not what i call a kind behaviour:disapp:

It was not Stasya fault, that Nastia fell in SP. :rolleye:

Konstantinova has this energy that just draws you in - powerful yet refined. And she improved tons in a year. And like everyone else I wish she got Rostelecom spot, I feel it was rightfully hers.

Its not truth and you know it. Gubanova missed a junior worlds (JW) last season because of her own mistakes.
And Dasha Panenkova - that's the girl who was robbed at the nationals, who have, as usual, 2 clear programs, but remained 5th.
And, if you like, Sasha Trusova - she was 4th, just because she was 12, too young for JW, and as she unable to go to JW as not age eligible, it was "politically wrong to place her in top-3, ahead of future participants of junior worlds ".
And, if you forgot, even Fedichkina was better than Gubanova - on 6th place.
...
And Nastya Gubanova, unfortunetely, was only 7th.

Do you understand what competition is? There is something really disturbing about your comments about Stasya - like straight up saying you hate her in the other thread. This isn't a Youtube chatroom, you know.

I am not sure if you realize it, but lots of skaters are going to beat your favorites during their careers and "steal" spots from them - except it's not stealing, because it's not up to them and everyone is just trying to do their best. That is how sport works. If you think everyone should defer to your favorites and sacrifice something they worked just as hard for, that will never, ever happen.

moving up to seniors is totally up to her. she's 17 already, why she's not going to challengers to get her 200+ score and a senior grand prix spots next year. i also wasn't a fan of sotskova, but i have a lot of respect for the girl, because she knows when it's time to move up.
plus i don't see konstantinova beating anyone. but she have a lot of political support from federation, thats for sure

I don't understand. Political support? She's not with Eteri's school, so where is the support coming from? Is Tatiana Tarasova a fan of hers?
