I like that...not everyone operates within a standard tuning either :agree:

I’ve never understood the obsessive nitpicking of skaters. We are in an age where even the lower tier skaters inspire me far more than any annoyances :)

On a different topic, I started wondering after realizing she actually still was 9 years old(by one day) during it - is this step sequence by Berestovskaya the best SS ever performed by a 9-year-old lady? Any serious competition?

At least never seen such Twizzles by a 9yo(not even close), 3 full turns and in both directions - See the rotation speed and travel distance on the first one. Not that that's the only good thing about the SS. It's also sooo much better than her SS just a month ago.

Just realized that Davydov has SO many young talents. Eteri's domination will be ended soon!

Eteri will always win!
Many of Davydov's talents will probably move to Eteri anyway...

You're right, it becomes clearer when viewed together. Anna Shcherbakova truly feels the music, the rhythm, the meaning of each movement, but Trusova is going through the motions, though doing it very well. Yes, it's almost an innate quality. ;)

I would prefer to watch Anna Shcherbakova, but I saw a video clip of her skate and it's the same irritating miming/acting choreography nonsense to give feeeelllliiiinnngggssss......:(

At least Trusova's 4 Seasons isn't as bad, though I'm sssooo uncomfortable with a 13 year old skating to the lyrics of Big Spender...:unsure:

Try this one. This is one of the best program I've ever seen, not only from 13yo girl, but from any figure skater.
 
Sasha is more like an "athletic" type of skater, and it's nice to have some many different styles in the same group. She said that she loves learning new jumps, so i guess she views figure skating more like a sport where she needs to beat everyone by her technical content primarily(which is really a good path for her, considering how good she is at jumps, difficult transitions, etc). At JGPF i think judges should've score Kostornaya's PCS (at least Interpretation of the music and Performance) a bit higher than Trusova's. But anyway they both deserved to be on top, since they are a little bit better than the rest. Actually it was funny to hear from Kostornaya that she plans to learn quads, the girl definitely understands why she loses to Trusova :laugh:

The only problem with that performance is the camera angle, unfortunately. It's much better viewed directly from where the judges are.

this one has a better camera angle but the camera work is much worse and the performance is of course not as good. But the very best part of the program(smile/frown) is viewed from a better angle.

I don't know how one could describe this program as irritating miming / acting. It's the sole reason I appreciate the full backload as a FS layout.

Yes, Shcherbakova really did stand out. I spent ten years of my childhood in a dance studio and it was maddening when someone was just so much better! But it looks like Trusova has a healthy mindset, like okay, I'm weak here but not awful, what else can I do to get an upper edge? A quad! That's it! I am amazed at the depth of talent in Eteri's school. There are at least ten girls that are spot on for competitive success in the future. USA has who? Starr Andrews?

After GPF, I'm assuming that the team has to be Med, Zag, and Sotskova. I love Polina Tsurskaya, but she didn't execute, and her LP is so BLAH. Maria is a top ten Worlds, silver at GPF, what else does she need???? Also with her "tano's" I don't really see them as a Tano, but another artistic way to jump. In slow-motion I actually LIKE her arm positions in her jumps. Very pretty and unusual.

I agree with everything you said except for I somehow manage to find Polina's FS enchanting as well. I wish that there were 4 spots... :(

I agree BUT this assumes Evgenia is in shape and healed enough to skate - she has a broken foot. I am now leery of reports unless it is from the horse's mouth. I think Maria has earned her spot;she has been consistent, uninspiring, but she gets the job done. She was a bit lucky she edged the Japanese ladies at the GPF. Will thishappen again; I am not so sure. Satoko has gained a lot of momentum.
