sound familiar limiting quotas like in rhythmic gymnastics ??? where the World Championships only 2 gymnasts per country rule as to not get a full sweep of the podium. ahem think of Aleksandra Soldatova getting robbed twice of that chance.

why limit wheneven in rhythmic gymnastics, their world cup can have max 3 and grand prix 4 athletes per country in every event.

I think the ISU does not want the GPF Medalists like this trend ?

I just don't understand. Personally, I've always thought that the best individuals should get the spots and their country of origin should have no impact. This is something I just don't agree with when it comes to the way sports do things. Take fighting games for example - The best players qualify period, even if 80% of them are from the same country. People there want to watch the best performers. So why is that not the case for sports?

Sure, I'd understand it for some team-based sports like ice hockey. But I just don't see any sense on doing that for an individual sport like figure skating(Ignoring pairs and ice dance here because those get complicated).

Well... if they're the best, they should win. The solution is for the others to become better. That's how I see it and how I always will see it. I guess I can get it for promoting the sport globally and having all sorts of exotic skaters to just participate, have their countries cheer for them and hence gain perhaps a little exposure there. But really, that's not even what the Grand Prix is for.

As for world championships - There just aren't enough high quality skaters in different countries to be able to afford removing a Japanese(though that already happened) and a Russian skater. It's already a diluted event especially with Japan only having 2 spots and it would just lead into it being a less competitive event overall than the grand prix, not to even mention nationals. Does that make any sense? It should be the strongest event of the season, outside of Olympics.

I've mostly been focusing working my way through the younger girls on the Top Prospects page. It's been so fun finding out about all these amazing young girls, like Sofia Samodelkina. And I just love Alexandra Trusova. She's such a star.

When he says, to the competitions, including the GPF, does that include Worlds too? Because I'd be shocked if the other big feds would be okay with reducing the max from 3 to 2. The US would definitely be against it for dance, and probably men. Canada and China for pairs, Japan for ladies, etc. Russia is the only big fed at Euros, so I guess there would be less pushback against reducing the limits there. And even GPF, the US certainly likes having 3 dance teams there, three junior men. So I guess for the GPF it would be limiting it to 3? I'd be against that, but I guess the other countries would have less pushback for that.

I agree here. Personally, I'm okay with the limits at Worlds and the Olympics, but GPF should just be the top qualifiers. The ladies JGPF was incredible, and that had 5 Russian girls .

Honestly, at this point, russian and japanese nationals are probably more exciting to watch than Euros and 4cc.

I also want to mention, and I think here is the right place for it, that I had to cut off the final part of my Tutberidze video. It belongs Goldenskate and they're were not okay with it, even though it is a tiny, tiny part of the whole interview with Eteri. I even gave them credits and put the video link down in the description (when I published it!). I also do not earn money with it. I only did this video for enjoyment purposes and everyone (except yunaboots) seems to love this video... And I noticed also that the (original) interview of Goldenskate got way more views since my video exists. So I don't understand the point of Goldenskate... It simply annoys me. Something is missing in this video...

I have an idea, let's divide skaters in groups according to their weight (like boxers). Lot's of new spots will be created, Russian ladies will dominate in less than 50 kilograms category and Canadian commentators won't be bothered about backloading and European mice anymore.
The most prestigious category will be 65+ kilograms (just kidding ^^)
