2017-2018 Programs by Discipline

I'll repeat it ad nauseam "And yet only Yuzu gets skinned for reusing a SP that got the current world record"

Oh please, I skinned Fernandez too and I'll skin Kostner for this too. If anything, Hanyufans spent pages completely derailing this thread trying to justify how it was okay for Hanyu to do it because he's special or something.

THIS is my speculation.

Yuzuru has had trouble with the SP, quite big ones, thanks to LGC but lets not get into all that here, as it's not the place so there are other possible reasons why he'd skate Chopin now, and benefits from it. The step sequence is going to go, and I'd recommend that first spin (and the music cut tbh but I doubt that will happen) but the my point still stands that this is not "the exact same program" even now, and who knows what'll happen once Jeff gets a hold of it and there are indications that it may change.

Now how much it changes, whether that 'satisfies' you, is of course your personal opinion, I have no comment any of that. Speculate away as long as it's clear that it is your speculation so thank you.

It's all right for absolutely everyone to do that, especially in a highly stressful situation as the Olympics. Whatever makes them feel better and raises the chances of a clean program on the night, they should do it.

I bet you would just love it if someone wrote this condescendingly about one of your favorites and about you. Don't do to others...

Anyway, the Oly programs sound like a snoozefest so far, although there are exceptions. Hope dies last though, maybe a number of skaters will surprise me yet.

Kostner- Afternoon of a Faun, Debussy , So she stayed in her comfort zone as well...

I might be wrong, because Carolina seemed quite dissatisfied with her performance at Worlds, and quite surely has ambition to podium, but I don't think she is really THAT naive to think she's really in the mix for a medal, least of all Gold? I even doubt that she'll make the GPF. Her technical score is just too low, all the PCS won't get her in the mix. That's why it is confusing to me that she 'stays' in her comfort zone. These are definitely her last Olympic Games! Depending who goes to Worlds she can perhaps finish on podium at Worlds, but at the Olympics I just don't see it.

I'm at the point were I applaud everyone who chooses to do two completely new programs. :palmf: Every new program should get +1 already.

The BIg difference is that Hanyu is the golden medallist at last Olympics and at last Worlds ( plus the three times winner of GPF) plus the recordman of this sport, while Caro has just returned, is 30y.o., has no recent gold medals and records on her own and, of course, whishes to finish her wonderful career on a beautiful note. And she hasn't skated that music since...4 years ?

To be completely honest, not all Hanyufans are happy with his decision...
And, like Yatagarasu, I'm in the camp of those who totally understand why the skaters would like to stay in their comfort zone for the Olympics. They don't owe us anything, and they have a huge pressure - whatever helps them to skate well on the D-Day is fine by me.

It's the same music Shoma Uno skated to last season, isn't it?
Step sequence looks nice and I really like "lively" programs so I guess he already sold it to me :D
Yes, definitely Shoma's music. He used it in the 2015-16 season for his SP. (Actually I'm a big Shoma fan and knew that was his music) Anxious to see Tom Dickson's choreography for the entire SP. This instagram was a great teaser!

I have been waiting for so long for someone to skate to this song--I'm pretty sure I even posted about it in the Impossible Wishes thread last year (or maybe it was last year's programs thread) :yahoo: this is so perfect for them and I cannot wait to see it :hap57:

Can't wait to see this! I think of this as the song used in the Jude Law/ Matt Damon night club scene in the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley. Should be good, especially with Massimo's choreography.

Bobrova/Soloviev's music is still not announced, so... :slink:

Think I spoke too soon. Zhulin didn't even add Four Seasons (the first time) until after the test skates right? He had some dream that told him to it or Tarasova whispering in his ear  Whatever the reason, guess we will have to wait until NHK with S/K.

Duh, they will try Carmen, or Swan Lake, or... Phantom of the Opera.

That reminds me, we never got to see their Carmen SD. I won't be too upset if they made that a LP  Whatever they do, is it too much to ask no Four Seasons at the end (or beginning or middle)? :palmf:
