You really think one has to be a particular age to appreciate classics like Singing In The Rain or My Fair Lady? I prefer a lot of musicals that came out before I was born to the shallow Moulin Rouge/La La Land contemporary variety. For one thing, you had to actually be able to sing back in those days...
Or, the studio hired somebody else to sing and dubbed in their voice for the songs. Which I've always found disconcerting, when not just plain wrong.

It'll be interesting to see the arrangement of these songs, since my first impression is that they don't really go well together...

They probably wanted to do something drastically different from their Hip Hip Chin Chin FD/SD.
yes, well, I guess you can chose any song in the world, add maracas to the lowest possible volume and consider it like a Latin rhythm.

Sounds like Dancing with the Stars except they don't even bother with the maracas.

I'm more concerned about the three different pieces. I think two generally make a more cohesive program. Piece one. Piece two. Back to piece one. Not always, but often, that works. We aren't seeing very many two-piece SDs this season. Most seem to be three pieces.
And most seem to be all running together in my head into a long list of boom chicka booms. These top teams can do better than what we have seen by those out of the top ten. They must.
Do you listen to a lot of Latin music, Chapis? What would you like to hear?
Well, they used three different -- and different sounding -- Prince songs in their SD last season and that went pretty well for them.
It did. And sometimes it works. Especially when you have all the pieces from the same film or by the same performer or with a similar theme. The more cohesive the better, to me. As I said earlier, I'm not familiar with the first piece on this list so I can't obviously see the cohesion within the three pieces listed. Are they all from the same era, maybe? In any case, I'm open to seeing what they can do with them.

they said that they have been around and done latin before and wanted a different way to use those rhythms... i love latin dancing so i agree but at the same time... i can imagine it will be refreshing to hear something else after 17 hip hips

they all have the same classic rock vibe to me... and Scott mentioned not to expect hotel california's chorus to suddenly just hit you in the face... he mentioned that it will come as a surprise gradually... so i am sure that a lot of work has been put into merging these songs.
I'm not a connoisseur when it comes to these three artists but I agree with 4everchan here: all three pieces have a pretty classic rock production style, so I wouldn't expect jarring changes soundwise.
Or the reality of Singin' in the Rain. Debbie Allen needed a lot of time to work on her tap dancing to be on par with Gene Kelly and it left her with no time to work on her voice/accent. So, Jean Hagen, the actress playing Lina Lamont, did the "movie scenes" in her real voice instead of Debbie Allen.
Ok. Back on topic...
I just would like that people stop of call latin music to any music. I mean, Maroon five, Ed Sheeran, Rolling Stones, Hotel California, You and I (Santana is mexican but lets be real, you can show that song to almost any latin and latin style is not precisely as they would define it). At the very last if they want use pop or rock they should choose songs in spanish/portuguese and with latin singers, because it is not like international pop, usually they already use a Latin style. I tell to my family and friends about the choices in the latin rhythm and they are like

Is there any other Latin in this forum living in Latin America that really considers that kind of choices, coherent?Do you guys think that in Brazil when people decide to go samba dancing, they dance to Rolling Stones music?, and when people want to go salsa or bachata, they dance with Ed Sheeran's music?, Even in Japan, USA, Eruope if people go out to dance to Salsa Clubs, Latin Clubs, do you dance to Maroon 5, Rolling stones, Ed Sheeran?, If so, then it's super weird IMO.

I've been thinking the same thing as Chapis. I applaud the idea of doing something original and fresh, but I'm not sure how V/M's choices really qualify as a Latin rhythm. I think I'd feel differently if at least one song was more of an actual latin song.
