2017 GP NHK Mens FS

It's a bit stacked at TdF because you have more GP medalists with Bychenko Samarin, Shoma, along with Max. Plus Javier will be there too and I expect he'll actually play spoiler since we know his performance at COC was due to sickness. ...

Plus ... Vincent Zhou also will be at GP France.

No doubt he is very motivated to up his game compared to Cup of China and to land his many quads cleanly.

The men in Grenoble are going to have quite the battle .

If you meant it as a joke then give an indication like some kind of winky emoji. People will only take this too seriously not because we prefer to get offended, but that we did not know you were joking. :)

:agree:

Congratulations to Voronov, Rippon, Bychenko.
Hugs to Jason.

What a lovely podium was. :) I was considering to skip the event since there seemed to be no big match between Patrick and Hanyu this year in the Grand Prix circuit and Hanyu's latest injury let me down - I wish for Hanyu's fast recovery. I cheered for every top 4 finishers to do well and the seasoned soldiers' performances touched my heart deeply. I was so glad for Voronov's first Grand Prix gold medal along with Adam's healthy return and Bychenko's deserving bronze before they retire from competition. They in their late 20s might've retired after this season, so their medals are really valuable. Go veterans!

what's the most important for me - he seems to write that kind of poem by himself and living it out in his own manner. What turned me into his skating was him embracing all he has and the authenticity in him - the way he started to do his stuff got much more sincere and real, which did him better than anywhere before.

If I read Adam correctly, it's been a long road to learn to embrace his authentic self, and also learn to tune out the voices, other people's voices, that may not help him move forward in that expression. To really listen to his own truest voice and write his own vision. While needing and counting on the support of others, the ones who know who him well and support his truth.

Congratulations Voronov. I wasn't looking forward to this and thought it must be a lacklustre event, but somehow it really, really got exciting at the end there. Rippon, wow, I'd never thought. When Jason didn't go for the Quad I thought, this is the wrong decision. You cannot play it safe here, if you want to win. Because only triples? You need to be picture perfect in that case. And he made too many mistakes. It seems the 3A wasn't very stable. And Bychenko, congrats on your well earned bronze! What a podium! I guess, Yuzuru is extremely careful and understandably so, but Patrick Chan....he could've won this so easily and still could've gone to GPF. This could've been the confident boost he needed. So...what has to happen for Fernandez to still get to the GPF? I hope it's possible. :)

Voronov with 86 PCS. Kolyada nearly 90 with multiple falls. What is going on ?

Falls don't affect PCS anymore, you should know after years of performances with falls and yet huge components (even Jason here was a hot mess and still 89)

But agreed that Voronov didn't deserve higher components than Rippon: he did have the skate of his life and the program suits his style, maybe this was a reward for the career like Misha's huge PB last year at Worlds, idk.

It looks like they changed the scoring presentation both during the performance and after. The box is more in real-life, you can see it going back and forth rapidly at times, and they have new design of score card afterwards.

I don't think he can get on GPF even if he wins. 15+ 5 = 20. He doesn't even pass Jason Brown, who has 22 points. Javier, will play spoiler for others who want to get into GPF. Basically if its Shoma/Javier top two -- whoever of the bronze medalists wins bronze (Aaron, Samarin, Bychenko) won't pass Jason cause of the placement tie breaker (all will have 22 points) The 4th place folks (Ge, Zhou) won't have enough placing 3rd. (11+9 =20 point) against Jason.

Sergei will be in with a 4th place ranking or higher easily. Even 5th would have him beating Jason on placement tiebreaker.
Adam is in with a medal. 4th place puts him in a tie-breaker with Jason on score. The same goes with Boyang.

i slept through this thank goodness... ;)

all i see on the protocols that make me angry is that Keegan tripled two of his planned quads and thus zayaked his 3a.... ugh..... sigh.... i will watch later... ihope that 3A was gorgeous too....

That sounds...complicated. Who would've guessed at the beginning of the season?

He landed the quad (I think a quad?) in full on marriage proposal position with arms spread wide and a big grin [emoji23]
Other than that I remember a lot of wiggly wiggles.
Voronov was wow.

Great job by Adam (I much prefer his freeskate; I find some of his short programs or programs are more Rudi Galindo exhibition or night club discoish). He really is an artist. I personally would have his pcs higher tonite than Brown but Brown is the chosen boy. I am not so hot on Patrick and Denis Ten right now because of their tech issues BUT at least they try quads. Jason still gets amazing pcs comparatively to Chan. If Adam can continue this route then I think the USFS should consider going the Chen, Rippon and Zhou or Aaron route. Will they - I doubt it. Jason has wonderful pc ability but in this time and age if we laugh at Chan and say he just doesn't have enough well Brown isn't as good pc wise or skating skills wise as Chan; maybe more a Ten's level which is still amazing.

All these pcs talks...get real, Voronov has won with 10 point margin. What pcs are we trying to discuss here? Rippon could have got more but even with Jason level 89-90 the podium would be the same.

Also funny: so many posts about Russian men skating in dire straits. Yet they won 2 GPs out of 4.

I rarely watch men anymore, but so proud of Voronov for winning his first GPF at age 30!! As a 30+ year old myself, I know how much the body changes from your teens and even 20s. It must be tough to keep up that level of athleticism, so bravo!

For the record, I noted Vornov's steller FS in Minsk...so this was not surprising to me. :)

I feel very happy for Adam! This program is a masterpiece. He was underscored in PCS, should get at least PCS of Jason.
I have been following Adam´s carriere since 2007.

Things are changing & have been for awhile, but some people didn't get the memo (especially gmyers ;) ). I think a lot of skaters' PCS is too high...what's new. He has definitely improved in those areas & it's not like his PCS are going up even while he is skating crappy performances. Which we have seen with others recently.

Because very point counts in this case and generally. And every skater should get what he really deserved.

Adam had the US numbe 3,4,5 deflation. Same as Alena Leonova from the ladies.

I just watched the medal ceremony, super cute! They are so happy!! All those years of self determination and self believe, pretty lonely, when federation didn't believe them, this is a total vindication. It is also pretty amazing to see an elder Isareli on the podium, when has that happened? Didn't they have a young Jr Champion Samohin last year? What happened to him.

I thought they were joking and I'm elderly. No emoticon needed for me.:drama:
