2017 GP Rostelecom Cup Ladies SP

Ah the forum works for me finally.

Ahem.
Tsarina, tsarina!!!

(now get rid of the ending and it's perfection)

Why Radionova's PCS higher than Wakaba's?

maybe this is one of the mysteries of Bermuda triangle, who knows?, besides - I do not understand PCS at all and do not want to, to be honest...focusing on performances and how they resonate with me, maybe too basic and simple, but cuts the drama:)

I agree with you. But do you think that Evgenia could skate programs like Carolina? ;) I think it's for both sides tbh.

She certainly could skate the short Kostner just skated. I can't see why anyone would think otherwise.

Poor, poor Chopin. We'd have to resuscitate him so he could die all over again.

I was thinking along the same lines... but last year.... when he heard BobSol's FD... he said to me : I am done... I am never coming back.... you crazy figure skaters can butcher my music all you want...

I hear that's why Yuzu went back to Ballade 3.0.. another great masterwork of butchering a perfectly fine masterpiece ....

voice over? violin cover? that's nothing compared to the previous two examples :laugh15:

That made me laugh because IIRC Chopin had his heart embalmed and sent back to Poland when he died.

Oh yah you are right I almost forget that lol. Evgenia must have gone there to record his heartbeat and use it in her music. how beautiful is that? The heartbeat of the composer resonating with his own music!! I almost cried.

Resuscitate him? He never died, silly. He's hanging with Elvis and John Lennon and Marilyn Monroe somewhere.

But Elvis shot the TV so they can't watch skating anymore so Chopin will live forever not knowing what skating in general has done to his music.

If I was Adele and I heard that god awful techno remix of Hello from last year's SD I'd hunt down the Mixer and kill him while singing "You're going to wish you never had mixed me."

Compare yuzurus chopin to evenia's- and tell me what is is wrong with the other one ;)

Why Radionova's PCS higher than Wakaba's?

Home ice boost.

And of course Evgenia is going to score this well on home ice.

I hate Wakaba's SP for subjective reasons, but I do think she could've been a little higher here, objectively.

Carolina gets overscored on the basis of the brilliant skating skills she had years ago but no longer does. But at least she's always gorgeous to watch.

I think Evgenia's program is beautiful. I don't have music at work, but I know from watching it in the past that it flows pretty effortlessly to the music. I'd love to see moments of held positions, but I'll take what I can get. Not every moment makes for a gorgeous picture (unlike, say, Carolina), but she's dynamic and everything she's doing is hard, and she makes it look easy. And it's not as if her skating or positions are especially awkward or ugly (sorry Elena, but that posture and those landings).

All the criticism of her open-mouth expression makes me :rolleye:. Maybe she could close her mouth every once in awhile, but the girl is emoting with her face and her eyes. She really is.

Great senior debut for Kaori :yahoo: Sad for Mirai but beautiful skates by ladies overall. Looking forward to the FS! (and it's 3:30 am and I'm going to bed!)

Wowie, Evgenia.:luv17::love: THAT is what I call an Olympics-year short program. This is artistry from Zhenya. From the first few notes, it was exquisite ... partly because her interpretation of the exact same music was such a huge contrast from what came before. But mostly, just because she performed with the subtlety and lyricism of her movements, her crescendos and subtle slowing down with the music.

Just exquisite. My only quibble is that I don't think the heavy breathing/ heartbeat at the end is at all necessary or desirable. I wonder why the choreographer thinks she needs it? She doesn't. She's conveyed feelings with heart. We get it. It's a small quibble, but it's a big deal to me. Let her skating speak for itself.

Technically, this is a perfect example of a skater who is doing what she can do, and doing it very very well. Her jumps don't have the highest BV. But it's so much more beautiful because she performs everything magnificently.

Well, I think that hers are better than Kostner's. Kostner's program was very simple in comparison to hers. With such a simple program, it's easier to have good basics.

Kostner could never skate Medvedeva's program.
Their styles are very different and difficult to compare. And I'm sure Medvedeva couldn't skate Kostner's program either. Medvedeva gains a lot of speed with her leg and arm movements, she swings them to gain momentum. I'd call Kostners style more pure. Not that Medvedeva's is bad in comparison, it's just very different.

She certainly could skate the short Kostner just skated. I can't see why anyone would think otherwise.

Well, It's not true

Elements and skills? for sure, easy peasy

Passion and movement? not quite yet

Having said that i do think Medvedeva has great expression

Poor, poor Chopin. We'd have to resuscitate him so he could die all over again.

Oh no, he had a tough time battling with tuberculosis already...we don't want him to sit at the rink to breathe in cold air again and again.

I think they mean artistically, not technically. No one questions Evgenia is a better jumper than Caro. Heck..a lot of the ladies are better jumpers than Caro

They ought to send audio of that Chopin program to The Hague.

Because I'm fairly certain it would qualify as a hate crime.

I have no doubt she's a very nice young lady, and she deserves her success.

But SOMEBODY must be punished for this.

I really am curious to see the judges' scores. This technical controller is supposedly very strict and always jumps at every opportunity to ding some points.
