2017 Russian Nationals Ladies SP

Tell me more. Did something happen in Juniors before I started watching them? Was the rivalry really intense?

Or, is it just that Sima is annoyed that the Fed kept her in Juniors when Zjenya was moved up to Seniors?

Sima and Evgenia are still friends.

I'm sure it's not what it used to be, but they are almost in different worlds now so very few opportunities shared between Sima and Zhenya these days.

80 seems pretty low for inflated National scores.

Is Anna really out? Lost all the motivation to follow this now. :( Ok, back to Christmas preparation, then.

For a second I thought this girl had forgot to take off her tracksuit top.

Then I was worried the music was going to be Spice Girls, but thank God no.

That's some fabulous hair though!

Leonova started pretty good but the jumps in the second half killed the program. Sad for her.

I don't get this excitement for the russian girls. There are maybe two "good" skaters, everything else is sloppy arm flailing, pantomime and shaky jumps :confused2: :scratch3:

:scratch2:

Two? I would say 8-10 good skaters and 3-4 great skaters.

SPB girls are very lyrical.

Unfortunately you are right that they are almost in different worlds now.

It is amazing the impact Federation decisions can make. Sima was good enough to move up to Seniors a couple of seasons ago, but there were so many good teenagers in Seniors that they held her back. And she has gone backwards since.

I often wonder where Sima would be now if she had been allowed to carry on with the momentum she had then.
