2017 U.S. Nationals Championship Ladies SP

Paige Rydberg: Very strong 3T+3T and 3F to follow. Great outflow of the 2A and alright spins. But she throws away the choreography and doesn't give it any meaning. It's just sort of there. I wish she emphasized the very clear beat in the footwork sequence much more.

Really wish she would have sold that footwork more.

I'm beginning to think Gracie needs to leave Frank just to get away from doing the 3flip in the SP. How many times does she need to blow it with that jump to change it?

If I was at the boards with Gracie, I'd have told her "there is nothing in this program you can't do - you've got this. Believe in your own talent."

I paid 24.99 for a ice network subscription yesterday. Today I get to watch nationals without hearing Johnny and Tara rattle on. Money well spent!

Why happy? That doubled flip cost her and she got no points for her solo jump. Better to go for it and fall and get the rotation at least but Gracie doesn't have the grit to fight for those jumps.

Because she's been a hot mess all season with no confidence, and if the only error she makes is one that's a common one for her AND she looks more relaxed and gives some oomph to her program, that's major progress for her and gives me hope she still wants to compete.

I want to frame this post and hang it on my wall.

All those excited about Karen Chen need to calm down a bit. I love the girl's skating, but she's disappointed me far too many times. Gracie has too....but when it comes down to it, I would expect a better Worlds showing from Gracie than Karen. And I think Karen is probably the best all-around everything-but-jumps skater the US has got.

Will be interesting to see how she does leading after the SP (assuming she still does). Methinks she doesn't have the Polina Edmunds confidence to keep her going.

I thought you were going to bed?

Nicely done, Paige!

I don't know when I first noticed Paige, but she reminds me of Gracie in 2013.

blah blah blah... let them skate and see :)

Paige Rydberg shows promise but she needs to open up more. Egyptian/middle eastern music should be simple, just throw in some stereotypical hand movements (not to be offensive)! She looked like she was skating to nothing

Kudos to Paige for completing all her elements green. She can build on this for the future with more performance skills. Good strategy to get the technique down first and let maturity do its magic. Very patient skate from her and her team.☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
