2017 World Ladies FS

ASHLEY:sad4: My heart is hurting I so wanted her to do better. That first missed combo really threw her off and she was never quiet in it after that. But talk about Karen coming in clutch!! Soo proud of her and the fact that we got three spots! Canadian women I can't even hate they brought it so hard. The less said about Evegenia and her simple miming the better..... Overall a pretty weak event for me, especially after last years worlds.

Ashley seemed afraid to make a mistake. She did not enter her jumps with the speed or attack that helps her avoid underrotations. She also didn't get mad and fight afterwards as she usually does. She has been in a funk since missing the GPF. I also wonder if the 9/11 thing wasn't messing with her head. Unconsciously finishing 7th in the short allowed her to avoid that program on practice ice - but I am just guessing.

I'm outta here and ps. this site needs a serious upgrade to cope with the massive influx of ppl coming here to read and comment! :bed:

Just checking the results. The real surprise is that Anna fell so far behind. Any reason for her mega bombing??

You should be glad you were not here to see it. It is something no one should ever see again.
She was crying on the ice, she was crying at the gates, she was crying at the couch.

Congratulations to Evgenia and Russia on her second World title in a row!!

OH CANADA!! Silver for Kaetlyn! Bronze for Gabby!! Congrats ladies! :clapper: I believe this is Canada's best finish ever (apart from late Canadian Olympic gold medal Ice Queen and legend, Barbara Ann Scott of course!), as far as putting two ladies on the podium! And 3 spots for the Olympics since 1968 per the U.S. commentators! I'll be honest, I thought Osmond might have another FS meltdown but she proved me wrong!

3 spots for the U.S.! Proud of Karen, Ashley, and Mariah! That should shut the haters up who kept hoping the U.S. would lose 3 spots!

Great skates ladies! :yahoo::hap10::hap85::dance2::cheer::party::rock:

Awesome job! Congrats to ALL of the ladies who skated their hearts out for their respective countries!! :luv17:

Gabby getting 2.10 GOE on her 3T-3T for the FOURTH time this season. With always a straggler judge who gives a 2. No wonder she doesn't change her combo. That one is a moneymaker

As awesome as the top four were, I'm most impressed with Mai's comeback from 15 to 5! I look forward to watching her next season!!

Insane that 2 Canadians are on the podium. So does that mean no more Canadian women on the podium at Worlds for 25-30 years since they only medal once every 15 -20 years.

I also want to add that is why i hate slanted panel and disagree with it in principle.

You have a faulty junior
Maria get 64.79 in PCS,
a absolute disasterous Anna get 62.86
a mistake ridden Kostner still get 71.03.

Then you get these near clean as personal best performances receive these sort of PCS

Karen 64.33 (Lower than Maria)
Mariah 60.92
Mai 63.89
Dabin 58.73
Elizabet 58.15
Zijun 49.54 (How come her TES only beat Anna's disasterous TES by only 0.96 points???)

How can this competition not looking like rigged towards the Europeans in particular the Russians?!

Well it's could be funny...but actually so sad.

And there's still people who want to convince that judging here is absolutely fair and right

2 years ago, Gabby was 21st at Worlds. 1 year ago, Kaetlyn failed to make the World Team. Astounding progression

At the start of the year if you had to choose a discipline in which CAN would win 2 medals - who would have picked the Ladies! And who would have thought we would get 2 medals at this point in worlds and that one would not be in pairs!

Pogo is due for a melt down. And she didn't disappoint.

Look at her record. 4th in W14, 13th in W15. 3rd in W16. 13th in W17.
Good thing is next year is her good year. I expect her to be in the hunt for an Olympic medal.

Only if the Russian Fed sends her. There's so much depth and she finished 4th at nationals this year (as a result of sketchy judging, but judging reflects Russian Fed's wishes, so...) that I don't know if she'll even go to the Olympics :slink:

Not sure why so many people think Daleman should be above Osmond. Osmond's program composition and artistry are leagues better than Daleman's. Moreover, Osmond racked up huge GOEs on most of her passes (that Lutz was gigantic!!!) while a lot of Daleman's later jumps and most of her non-jump elements maybe earned +1 at most.

Osmond's FS, to me, looks chopped up and incoherent. There are jumps sections and steps section and even the music editing tells that (when it goes into the Steps sequence you know "ah its time for steps"), not my cup of tea, also she doubled a loop, where Gabby has a better choreography and presentation. Of course it is still far from being a "artistic masterpiece", but I personally enjoy Gabby's flow and package more.

We will never know, will we? I also appreciate Satoko's mental toughness and work ethic. And yes, she would have likely done well enough to keep 3 spots. But since she was injured I think the took the right decision. Who will challenge her next season from Japan to claim a spot from her? Let's say Mai Mihara. But it's two spots. So it's Mai and Satoko. Who else is there? Mao? With her reputation torn apart after this season and her chronic UR issues, I have doubt the federation would back her up. Marin? If we look at her record, she starts to skate well in the later half of the season. If she messes up the GP's, she won't be taken seriously at nationals (you have proof - she was very conservatively scored at nationals this season after mediocre JGP events). Sakamoto? She is inconsistent and does not have the PCS. Rika and Wakaba? I doubt it.

Japan media is crazy for Marin. She's the new Mao. She's going to the Olympics for sure. There's just no way they leave her at home. And they know she's good at big event and peak at the right time. She proved it again and again. Also, she's not like Mai or Wakaba. They won't hold back her PCS.
JSF had a star on their hand.

Second spot is between Satoko and Mai and maybe Kaori. I can see both Mai and Kaori skating clean. That means Satoko had to skate clean. If JSF is pissed at her, one or two UR calls, and she's staying home. Her fate is with the technical caller. Her placement can be controlled down to each jump.
Mao is not it in. Satoko has to win to secure her spot for ditching JSF when JSF needed her the most. If JSF didn't extend the courtesy to Miki Ando, who is Satoko?

Well, it was relatively clean. The top 5 were all clean in their FS.

Nope.

#2 Osmond had a step out on the 2a+3t, and she doubled the loop.

#3 Daleman stepped out of the 2a in the 3s^2a sequence.

#4 Chen fell on her solo 3z and stepped out of the final 2a

Only #1 Medvedeva and #5 Mihara were clean.

Look, when you're popular, everyone wants a piece of you. This site has it goin' on. It's the sheer volume of posters that slows the site down. I'd rather read what our posters have to say than listen to Tara any day of the week. She drove me crazy during Karen's Free Program.....:disapp:

Applying this pattern, we have 4 - 13 - 3 - 13 - so the next is 2. If Pogo wins silver medal at the Olympics it's fine with me

No matter what she does, the fed will never trust her again after this. They won't send a skater who could potentially embarrass herself and most importantly Russia to the biggest stage of all. My heart is breaking. I so love this girl. But she wasn't allowed even the smallest mistake here. I think she's done. Not because she lost her fire or ability to skate. She might win a few medals again next season. I will be very surprised if they'll send her to the Olympics. Actually, this is the best news for Sotskova or even Radionova. And all I can do is cry.....
