No matter what she does, the fed will never trust her again after this. They won't send a skater who could potentially embarrass herself and most importantly Russia to the biggest stage of all. My heart is breaking. I so love this girl. But she wasn't allowed even the smallest mistake here. I think she's done. Not because she lost her fire or ability to skate. She might win a few medals again next season. I will be very surprised if they'll send her to the Olympics. Actually, this is the best news for Sotskova or even Radionova. And all I can do is cry.....

Ohh, no Sostskova... she had 2 bad important competitions this season (Euros and Worlds), she's prone to Urrs and bland.
I just hope Radio will be in good shape next season, I think she might have a chance to make the team. She has personality and is much more stable than Anna even in bad physical shape.
I do agree that the Fed won't send Anna to Olympics, they need extremely reliable and stable skaters for such an event. Anna can be brilliant when she's on, but also the opposite

Thanks to Karen, Ashley is now a "two-time Olympic medalist." Ashley skated like she was skating for her Olympic spot and that always makes her skate poorly. Hope Ashley sends Karen thank you notes the rest of her life.

Nope.

#2 Osmond had a step out on the 2a+3t, and she doubled the loop.

#3 Daleman stepped out of the 2a in the 3s^2a sequence.

#4 Chen fell on her solo 3z and stepped out of the final 2a

Only #1 Medvedeva and #5 Mihara were clean.

You are right. I did not realized Chen fell.

We have 3 spots, which is great. But I just am in shock about Ashley.

Well the american ladies did exactly as I thought they would. I know a lot of people expected more from Ashley and Mariah and less from Karen but if you look at it it makes sense. Mariah was mostly inexperienced at high level competitions. Before this year she hasn't skated higher than SA. She had t medalled at anything senior level until this year. So coming into worlds was a lot of her. I think she did a great job.

Karen IS talent. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that she wouldn't come back strong at worlds. It was a good thing for her to go to 4CC and bomb. It never stopped Gracie from rebounding at worlds. It helped Karen deal with the pressure of being US champ and how to focus on delivering. Also how to finally get past her foot pain. She could've done better with those last jumps, but that's something to think about later.

Ashley I also knew would be lacking here. First it is ten year since she bombed her first worlds and the US lost three spots. She hasn't had as much competition this year. Her jumps lost their spark. I knew something was off at SA and I never saw her really attack her programs like before. I think she relies more on Gracie than she realizes. They've been rivals for a long time. When your rival isn't there anymore, it's hard to be as motivated as before. At least she held it together so we could keep our spots.

On to the rest.

Evgenia. As if anyone though something else would happen. Light jumps and consistent as always.

Kaetlyn! Does anybody else feel like crying? No GPF medal, no 4CC medal, but she got her world silver medal! So much talent! It wasn't perfect, but she can save that for the Olympics!

Gabby! Flawless! And fourth no more! I can't get over the Canadian ladies this year! This is how you earn three spots with pizazz!

Mai. Comeback! So much talent from her already. Those jumps are wonderful! Some better packaging and she'll take the GP by storm next year!

Carolina. Not perfect but still beautiful. Sometimes come backs take time. Definitely not bad after not competing for years.

Maria. I could see a scare look in her face in practice before. I knew she was nervous. It has to be so hard for these girls knowing that if they make a mistake there are three girls to take their place. She has so many good qualities. I hope she doesn't take this to heart and looks to the future with some optimism.

Elizabet. Two clean programs! She still gets low PCS. Hopefully after some tweaking the judges will start showing her some love.

Da Bin! So happy! Personal best and top ten! So proud. She going to represent Korea well next year!

Wakaba... She's going to kick herself for a long time after that skate. She's so talented. I hope she doesn't let this get to her.

Anna... I'm not ready to talk about her yet.

It's almost like all the falls that didn't happen this season for Pogo all came back on her at once.

Yes. Just like 2014 she will be awarded a medal with the SP.

It all depends on how she starts next season. She must start in full force with all guns blazing. This is to show that when she is on, she podium material. They have Medvedeva for an almost 100% lock on the gold. Why would they go with someone more consistent but less likely to podium? Out of all the Russian girls competing (senior girls), besides Med, Pogo has the biggest podium potential. She needs to get herself together and win her GP events, podium at GPF and skate clean at nationals. Not easy, I know, but she did it this season. Pressure will be on all girls, not just Pogo. Heck, Radionova and Sotskova have not shown good performances in their last events. At least Pogo had a very good competition at Europeans. Cheer up!

I don't think the Fed will forget what happened here.. it was a major bombing and she was on all the season up now, so even she'll be in very good shape next year, they won't trust her anymore.
And to begin with, she never was Federation's darling, she placed even 4th behind Sostkova at Russian National.

It's unbelievable that the men, with all their quads and technical demands, are somehow outstripping the women in terms of artistry and choreography. Idk. Maybe age has something to do with it.

I agree I find the ladies boring. It does get sort of repetitive after awhile. At least with the men there's 6+ men who could take the title! My dad agrees he hates the ladies says their programs all look the same. Sameness is the word I would use to describe the ladies. Nothing memorable even Mai's "Cinderella" and Rika's "Riverdance"didn't do it for me this time. The men, ice dance and even pairs are far more entertaining and interesting!

Unless she skates like a skater with fire, then I doubt it. Karen OTOH may have just clenched her spot. She'll have to prove herself on the GP next though. She needs some hardware before nationals.

Federation-wise, everyone but Japan goes home happy here. Even SK now has 2 spots for their Olympics.

IMO yes. Chen and Wagner are IMO fairly safe bets, maybe not mortal locks but extremely likely to make it. It will be down to who gets the 3rd spot mainly, which if she shows up recovered and skating great at Nationals (although maybe not likely to happen) would automatically be Gold, and quite possibly in some place better than 3rd too of course, but she would make the team in that case. If this doesnt occur it could be any of Nagasu, Edmunds in her comeback, or I guess Bell, although I think Bell would need a fair bit of improvement to make it without it being a splatfest.

I'd just like to say congratulations Med for holding it together and winning Back To Freakin' Back World Titles. Her score was huuuuge and she was really under pressure following the skates that preceded hers. Sad for Pogo......Very sad. With the deep field in Russia, this could damage her reputation and keep her off the Olympic Team no matter how well she skates at Nationals next year....:sad21:

Eh, I think she's still ahead of most of the U.S. women's field even with this lackluster outing. She still ranked higher than Mariah and the U.S. doesn't have very much *consistent* up-and-coming talent (see: junior worlds). Gracie Gold and Polina Edmunds are both unknown quantities at the moment, but comebacks from injury/hiatus or, in Gracie's case, a downward trajectory can be difficult for any athlete, regardless of their inherent talent or their dedication & effort.

ETA: omg can't believe I forgot about Mirai but my point still stands I think since Mirai hasn't exactly been the poster child for consistency either...

1-2-3 staying the same from SP to FS doesn't happen very often under IJS for singles. It's actually a relief to see skaters perform how they're capable for both segments.
