Unless she skates like a skater with fire, then I doubt it. Karen OTOH may have just clenched her spot. She'll have to prove herself on the GP next though. She needs some hardware before nationals.
Federation-wise, everyone but Japan goes home happy here. Even SK now has 2 spots for their Olympics.
Karen did great today but she is also capable of meltdowns but not up to Pogo-sized.
Congrats to Karen, she had my favorite SP after Kaetlyn two days ago and good free today. I doubted her after 4CC and regret that, she really made these 3 spots for USA possible. What a comeback for Mai, great skate with great jumps. What a shame about short now and 2 spots for JPN ladies on Olympics :hopelessness: Dabin, couldn't be more proud of her, she did everything she could and I can't tell how sad I am for Anna and for sure didn't want her to be in top 10 this way, she really deserved to be in it and give 2 spots for Korea on their Olympics. Shame about Caro, Ashley, Maria, Wakaba and obviously Anna, it was hard to see these skates from such a talented skaters
Can't wait for another season to start though :dev2:I will also have to agree with this. This will be the 1st Worlds where I personally won't be going back to re-watch any programs from the ladies event. Finally this season of ladies skating is over, the summation of it being exactly what I thought it would be - the skating is tacky, superficial, repetitive, and forgettable. There wasn't a single good long program in this competition. Lots of random movements going on, more and more of something happening, but ultimately all meaningless. No real development of worthwhile themes, no real artistry. This was exactly representative of a Trumpian era. Lots of big, empty, manic showboating, all punctuated by plenty of cringe-worthy moments.
Is that our first time ever (I am a Canadian and I assume just by your username you probably are).
too.
technically and performance wise. So very happy at the end, and so well deserved! I'm thrilled for her, and it's an unpopular view, but I love her Cinderella program. I loved the movie, and it was not as junior-ish as some think, imo. The next skater, Dabin Choi! Very lovely program to Dr. Zhivago, loved her turquoise dress too. I was glad to see Rika return to her Riverdance, I always enjoy it; but it didn't give her the confidence she needed. Elizabet, I didn't get to see yet.
about her: after Karen's scores came up, Ashley smiled and applauded for Karen. She's completely genuine.
You are really overestimating the strength of the U.S women currently if you honestly think Wagner isnt likely to make it. In fact I had to laugh at it. Who other than Chen is going to push her out, and you need 3 women remember. Gold having hit a new all time low, Nagasu who continues to have her own issues and who the USFSA and U.S judges would way less rather send to the Olympics than Wagner even if both have a fairly good day at Nationals, Bell who doesnt have much international scoring potential at the moment, and Edmunds coming back from missing a whole year with injury and who was 90% of the time behind Wagner before that injury. I am no Wagner fan but she is likely to make team unless she skates as bad or worse than 2014 (I dont think she would get a bye this time i that case) or it is a shockingly stunning event at Nationals next year.
Last year 9 ladies had scored 190+ and 7 reached 200+. Now 10 ladies scored 190+ but only the three medallists were above 200. This worlds really was a battle of nerves, and with lots of casualties, too.hwell:
I also want to add that is why i hate slanted panel and disagree with it in principle.
You have a faulty junior
Maria get 64.79 in PCS,
a absolute disasterous Anna get 62.86
a mistake ridden Kostner still get 71.03.
Then you get these near clean as personal best performances receive these sort of PCS
Karen 64.33 (Lower than Maria)
Mariah 60.92
Mai 63.89
Dabin 58.73
Elizabet 58.15
Zijun 49.54 (How come her TES only beat Anna's disasterous TES by only 0.96 points???)
How can this competition not looking like rigged towards the Europeans in particularly the Russians?!

I'd just like to say congratulations Med for holding it together and winning Back To Freakin' Back World Titles. Her score was huuuuge and she was really under pressure following the skates that preceded hers. Sad for Pogo......Very sad. With the deep field in Russia, this could damage her reputation and keep her the Olympic Team no matter how well she skates at Nationals next year....:sad21:
The problem is JSF always tried to push Wakaba. This is the same girl that went to Jr World year after year and placed low low low. Always bombed. I don't know why they score her so high normally at home only to get slaughtered in international scenes. She's like Agnes Zadwazki. Inexplicably got good score at home, and got put in her place outside.
Next year, Wakaba is done.
Mai and Satoko are fighting for the second spot. This is why Satoko should have limped out there and done it. When was the last time she got less than 200?
