2017 Worlds Men's FS

 It's the judges who gave him two Worlds bronze medals in two trips, plus other medals along the way.

It's the fans and US media that hype Nathan, with good reasons, but he has to perform well to get marks.

He is a jewel and I like his raw style much more than the artistry of Brown.

What does it mean "a zero-time world Champion" to you? He got this title in 2014 after the Olympics.

Perhaps they mean Machida should've won in 2014?

Either way, I think the placement this year was correct.

I just respect Boyang so much. He seems so aware of what he needs to do to not only win medals but be successful as an all-around skater. I think many of us wish he was rewarded for that, but I think it will come.

Not going to arguing with scoring, not today! Lucky you, judges
This LP day was something, wasn't it? Not even close to the yesterday's finale sorry ladies.

I feel sorry for Javi. If there wasn't this pressure after SP maybe he was able to deal with it.
I like Shoma regardless of everything and everyone could put on his season best in both routines. Even after mistake, could hold it together.
I like Boyangman (after all I probably can't call him otherwise) could grab the medal again. They all should be afraid of you at Olymics. If they don't too bad for them you know.
I like Hanyu's little celebrating sign with hands after 3Lz, last jump. What a fighter he is, just phenomenal skater!

These are just a little pieces of whole reason why I'm in love with Men's FS! Just please don't forget, it's not about quads only!! FS is much more than jumps, it's art and let's keep it that way boys!

I so hope that this second bronze for Boyang will finally show the judges that he is no fluke. I hate how he basically became from wonder to loser the minute Nathan Chen arrived on the scene. Good for him!

He also get the award from me for most deserved improvements in PCS.
He and Jason, I'd have even marked Jason in 90s even. This was a special skate.

I would like to say that the state of top men group men skating are amazing. Apart from the incredible difficulty technique, the program is also great. Except Nathan I enjoy every programs of the top seven.

Ladiezzzz on another hand............

H&L >>>>>> SEIMEI.

Yes, I meant it. :handw:

Even though for me both are great programs.

Disagree. Seimei's construction is so unique and personalized. H&L is a bit of a snooze fest for me. I wish Hanyu saved Seimeibfor the Olympics. That program deserves to be iconic.

What is the real art of skating? As far as I am concerned I prefer the skating of Boyang Jin, Javier Fernandez, Patrick Chan and Nathan Chen. But the first and second place for Hanyu and Uno are OK. They were better today.

I agree he is underwhelmed in hype next to Nathan but I dont think he is generally undermarked. If anything you could argue his PCS at times are a bit high and reflect the kind of quad bonus you naturally get. With the jump content of Jason Brown imagine the PCS he would actually get. The short program here was about one of the only times since he emerged I thought he was undermarked a bit in anything, or in PCS.

Rewatched the Men presser: When Yuzu mentioned Boyang's influence, I heard giggle and saw the shadow of Boyang bowing to him .

Jason and Misha Ge are the Lambiel of their generation (minus the world tiles). Both with exceptional Artistic skills, well liked by all with one major technical deficiency. I hope both can make it to olympics. Jason if he makes it should be team captain and lucky charm in charge of helping all headcases find their happy place before skating.

Seriously how is he not being rewarded!?! Is there any argument he deserved better than the bronze he is getting here (hell no), and is there a single event he was ever in fact arguably robbed of a higher placing at? Maybe Four Continents last year and Cup of China this year against Chan of winning. Those are the only two possible times I can think of. And even those werent exactly outrages, Chan's margin in PCS and even GOE is quite merited at those stages, and at COC it was already much less than last year reflecting Boyang's improvements.

I like Boyang too and it is great to see him medal again when everyone was writing him off, but I dont think he is some victim of judging. Again if anything he benefits (like MANY others, so I am not singling him out) of the quad heavy bonus in PCS. Imagine his PCS with the jump content of Jason Brown.

Just watched final men’s :dbana: Congrats to the audience for seeing this!

Haha, kudos to Boyang for bronze again. He must be over the moon. Well deserved.

IMO Machida probably should have won in 2014. Sad when it turned out he would soon retire too. It wasnt a crazy wrong result like say Chan's win in 2013, Capellini & Lanotte's win in 2014 over both Pechelat & Bourzat and Weaver & Poje, or Sotnikova's win in Sochi, but I probably would have had it going the other way.

Boyang! I'm almost teary eyed. Two time World bronze medalist. China should be proud. I am :yay:

Happy for Yuzuru..my only fav on the podium. I didn't love yuzuru programs like last year but at least he won. Patrick should have way better pcs than jin or chen. Jason is awesome and what happened to my Javi.

Patrick Chan's step sequence is a thing of wonder. I'm almost moved to tears. His basic skating skills are exquisite and the best of the field.

I was unable to watch the ladies FS live. But the comments I read just in this Men FS forum about it are making me trepidatious :handw:[emoji23]
Yeah...I cried and not happy tears 4 a skater.

I never know what I think of Chiddy's skating it's kind of...just there for me, apparently he has amazing edges but I'm not good with that sort of thing so I don't really notice...

It's something you need to see live bc cameras are unable to capture it. I never got Chan until I saw him live and my friend and I were both floored. I had to take back everything I thought and said about his skating. He made me eat crow.

Chan moves unlike anyone else, men or ladies, on ice. He's a figure skater of the purest sort. Hanyu is by far my favorite skater, but if I were a skater and had to pick a skating style, it would be Chan's.
