2017 Worlds Men's SP

Ten very focused, a bit muted

Muted is the right word. Seeing his face before his jumps, I thought for sure he'd be falling or popping. I'm pleasantly surprised at him, just wish he skated with more passion.

Good performance from D10 too!
Great effort on the 3 Axel. The Step Sequence is insane

Watching Denis Ten reminds me old times a bit. Ten, Chen and Hanyu are all skaters who have competed with two generations of skaters like Joubert, Lambiel, Lysacek to Uno, Jin and Chen now.

Denis Ten

Great technical work this time around for Denis, very surprised. Strong 4T, and fine 3A (actually, seems to have put his foot down on it) as well as 3Lz+3T. But I wish that his program was more committed throughout the piece and not just the footwork sequence. The musical cuts didn't really help the program much. I think Ten is much better than this program allows him to be artistically.

Good job, Denis. It won't be enough for 2nd place though I expect though.

Step Sequence was so sharp & exciting nevertheless.

That random insertion of the Nutcrackers always gets to me! Loool. Clean skate from Denis Ten, but the overall program is so beneath him ...

Not bad, but he looks far too concentrated in the first half. And for some reason, he never looks like he's having fun. A bit of a downer after Spider Jin. But then I admit I've never been Denis Ten's biggest fan.

I thought he would fall too. The second half was passionate.

Not the jumping difficulty, but still clean. So impressed so far with these guys and how they are delivering their content. Not like the pressure is easing, lol!
