2017 Worlds Men's SP

Yuzuru Hanyu

Easy landing on the 4Lo with that spread eagle out. Low landing on the 4S had to touch down with the other foot and take on a stuttery 2T at the end. Great comeback with an amazing 3A. A wonderfully jovial and exuberant footwork sequence. Interestingly, he's going to score a few points behind Nathan Chen in the technical with that mistake on the sal.

I'm thinking a score in the high 90s, tho, with his artistic mark.

Mamma Mia - from Italian commentator :D She also called Yuzuru quad loop triple loop in the heat of moment.

He rocked the hell out of this program (in particular step sequence) but there was costly error in jump combination. But no pop at least.

This program just doesn't seem to suit Yuzuru. Skating to Prince needs a bit more pizzaz.

I love this program and I love that he stretches himself artistically with it, but he has sold it better in the past than he did today. Pressure is tough and concentration is everything.

Barring that save from the combo, that was probably the best I've ever seen Hanyu perform this SP. Crowd, announcer, commentator all were really bringing their joy to be heard.

OK, I'm going to say it please no pitchforks: Though there's been a lot of improvement since the start of the season, I don't think Yuzu goes quite far enough to sell this still (especially in the first half of the program and the very end of it, which feels anticlimactic to me after the fabulous step sequence).

This program never grew on me. I still dislike it from the first time I saw it. Good save though on that 4S combo. Did it count?

Gaaaah I was a nervous wreck watching Yuzuru skate! He did pretty good. not perfect. I hope this is good enough.
