It's so much harder to find pairs teams that have the skills AND gel together enough than just sticking two "can't quite hack it at the top" singles skaters together. Ryuichi Kihara was a singles skater before skating with a decently successful Narumi Takahashi, and that pairing didn't last long
OMG this system is so bad...D/F not qualifying to the FP?! That's something shocking...This field is really strong.
I understand that, but they have been strong in singles for a long time. My point was why still no Japanese pairs teams.
Well, I did say a lot could happen. And we barely passed the halfway mark of the SP - I hardly think this will be the first surprise of the day.
Duskova/Bidar are in!!!!
On a more positive note... Anna and Martin qualify for FS and probably for the Olympics!![]()

Well, Duskova/Bidar qualified!
I have soft spot for ZABIIAKO/ENBERT but this SP is really as exciting as watching paint dry for me...

,I think there is also some ethnic background to that. Japanese men are mostly not very tall, so maybe could be also an issue of finding a guy who can skate well enough and be able to lift and throw a female partner.
