2017 Worlds Pairs SP

It's so much harder to find pairs teams that have the skills AND gel together enough than just sticking two "can't quite hack it at the top" singles skaters together. Ryuichi Kihara was a singles skater before skating with a decently successful Narumi Takahashi, and that pairing didn't last long

I understand that, but they have been strong in singles for a long time. My point was why still no Japanese pairs teams.

On a more positive note... Anna and Martin qualify for FS and probably for the Olympics! :yahoo: :cheer:

Well, I did say a lot could happen. And we barely passed the halfway mark of the SP - I hardly think this will be the first surprise of the day.

I think there is also some ethnic background to that. Japanese men are mostly not very tall, so maybe could be also an issue of finding a guy who can skate well enough and be able to lift and throw a female partner.

I have soft spot for ZABIIAKO/ENBERT but this SP is really as exciting as watching paint dry for me...

These two always have very pristine and lovely elements, but I feel the same watching them as I feel watching paint dry... they seem to think a few strategically placed overly big arm movements qualify as 'emotion'.

,

There are certainly big strong Japanese men......... in other sports.

Good elements--the sbs spins were the best I've seen in a while...programs were a little boring but well skated
