It would be nice to have a fancam, as I think we won`t have an official stream!

I am hoping some day there is true pay for view.....what's wrong with that? I can watch the Russian and Japanese Nats ...NBC Gold works....now how about the next step....wanna see the Japanese Ladies short? 2 bucks. Boom, done.

I've noticed Sui Takeuchi hasn't been doing well this season, I hope she's not struggling with nagging injuries and will show what she's capable of at the nationals. I'm happy Oba, Kagotani, Nagai, Nakashio and Matsubara made it to the nationals (while Shoji didn't make it, but understandable considering her jumps now). My favorites are Yuka Nagai and Mako Yamashita and I'm also looking forward to Hina Takeno's programs as I enjoyed her skating at the nationals last season (saying this as someone from Osaka I feel like a traitor lol) but I hope every skater do as well as they can.

Official entry:
17 長縄和 奏 Wakana NAGANAWA (J6)

Just a small correction as I've noticed you've quoted her name in Kanji like this before and guess it's not a random typing error. Her surname is 長縄 and 和奏 is her first name, rather than 長縄和 and 奏 respectively. 奏 is part of the verb 奏でる(かなでる, kanaderu) which means to play music, so 和 is "wa" and 奏 is "kana". 縄 is "nawa" which means a rope.

Thanks for the correction! I also noticed that later on and didn't have a chance to correct that. Yes, it should be 長縄 and 和奏 as last name and first name respectively.

Sorry for the OT - one quick question. Is Sui related to Kotaro Takeuchi?

OK, thanks! Correction made....obviously her name confused me.... :p (and I have no problem if just reading the kanji)

It's certainly an interesting way of writing Wakana, literal meaning would be playing (i.e., performing) harmonious music. Maybe her parents hoped she would be a musician.
Wakana would more commonly be written 若菜 (young greens or herbs).
Similar in meaning to Wakaba written 若葉 (young leaf), but in Wakababy's case it's written 新葉 (new leaf).
Japanese names are complex and the fashion is constantly changing. I recently met a Japanese lady in her 40s, who bemoaned the fact that her name was old-fashioned and ended in "ko" like Akiko, Satoko, etc. In fact it was the same name as my late grandmother's, so she had a point.

Sorry for the OT - back to Japanese Nationals!

Am I crazy?? I feel like in the past I've always seen really high quality videos from Japanese nationals - are they not showing it this year or something?? Is there really no one live streaming?

if those are streams of on-air Fuji TV... looking at the schedule, the ladies SP isn't scheduled to be shown live. There is a 2-hour TV broadcast beginning at 7pm local time.

Actually, the live broadcasting starting from Group 1 will be by BS-Fuji. And for the last two groups (G4 & G5) the live will be moved to Fuji TV, starting at around 19:00 local time. So far it's not for sure if there's a working link for BS-Fuji.

Sorry for the OT - one quick question. Is Sui related to Kotaro Takeuchi?

Sorry for the late reply... such a question never occurred to me but come to think of it they kinda have something in common with their facial features don't they? But Sui's been supported by Daito Kentaku which suggests her family lives in one of their properties or either of her parents work for them but Kotaro isn't supported by them so I kinda doubt they are siblings. Also, Kotaro was trained at Howa coached by Kawaume et al but Sui by Kozuka's mom which kinda also directs at the non-relation.

Sad that Sui didn't make it to the free. Extremely disappointed as she might have tried both 3A and 4S in the free (she did attempt 3A and 4S at Howa Cup in July though she fell on both.)
