Entries from South Korea: (I suppose the entries to 4CC have been decided after the ranking competition last weekend, can anyone confirm the entries?)

Entries from China:

(unconfirmed): I've been reading from twitter that Han Yan will probably skip China Nationals in preparation of 4CC.

Adding: also reading from weibo (in Chinese) that Yu Xiaoyu confirms in post GPF interview that Y/Z are NOT planning to participate in 4CC.

How many people will skip 4CC for Olympics prep? There were quite a few in 2014, while others, like Kanako competed in both events.

i think the skaters who will not be skating for the team events will be just fine if they compete at 4CC. i actually think it will be beneficial for them if they compete especially if they are in the bubble. they get one more chance to prove and test themselves especially the ladies who have more than 3 weeks before the competition in Pyeongchang starts.

Third (and last) Olympic selection competition is still to come? (Nationals in January?)

Maybe that is when they will announce 4CC and World's teams too?

I just checked the thread on the ranking competition held in Dec 1st. In the very first discussion info it states clearly that this ranking competition will decide the entries to 4CC. I also recall reading somewhere about ladies' entries to 4CC has been decided (seems to be Dabin, Hanul, and Soyoun). But somehow I couldn't find the rest. Perhaps the formal announcement has been held due to the participation of Oly team event as well? Anyway, please feel free to share if anyone has the compete entries to 4CC from South Korea.

Lee didn't get the minimum TES for SP at Bosphorus Cup yesterday. He scored 23.9 and he needed 25. I believe there are no more competitions available to do it now.

That might be OK for the Asian skaters who don't have to travel that far, but not for the North American skaters who would lose a day and a half of practice time traveling each way, plus the practice time lost while at the competition itself. On top of that, there is the exhaustion from jet lag at both ends of the trip.

Don't expect to see any US or Canadian Olympians at 4CC.

Andrew Dodds is going to be busy competing singles and ice dance! has this ever been done before?

Not many people do double duty at the same event, let alone singles and ice dance. Normally it is singles and pair.

Since Jun hwan Cha selected for Olympics, he decided not to participate 4CC at one interview article. We will see the changing in entries.

With the current Ladies lineup, I doubt Ashley Wagner will stay on the roster. Some countries (e.g. Japan) are sending their top skaters for Olympic tuneups.

Ashley will withdraw, I would guess, given the odds of not medaling.

Related to this topic, AW won't be in USFSAs top envelope any more, if the past is any indication. Skating at 4CCs would give her more funding if she went, I suppose, but would only keep her in the top tier if she medalled? She’s not set up well for this competition this year, and it’s very possible she won’t be top 3... This is going to kill her dress budget....

Ever since 4CCs became a more competitive and significant competition in the last 5 years, Ashley has turned down assignments to go. It’s one of the competitions she doesn’t “do”. It doesn’t look as though there’s a whole lot of incentive to change her view and “do” it this year, and she’s peeved by her scores at nationals.

Since AW thinks she should have been more “fairly” scored at Nationals and selected for the Olympic team, and she is publicly “furious” about the way she has been judged compared with other skaters, I doubt she’ll accept the “runner up” assignment of 4 CCs. It was already a competition—like Skate America—that was below her list of competitions she felt were “must-do’s”.

On the other hand, related to this topic, AW won't be in USFSA’s top envelope any more, if the past is any indication. Skating at 4CCs would give her more funding if she went, I suppose, but would only keep her in the top tier if she medalled? Aren't threads in the Arena enough for your Ashley hatred? Let it go.

Ashley went to 4CC twice when it was very competitive. She won it with two strong skates the same year she was very, very close to medaling at worlds too.

It sounds like she’ll be there. If she’s hungry and determined - her chances of medalling should good. Her jump combos looked pretty solid in those Nats practice videos. The Japanese ladies will be a serious threat, but she’s faced worse odds. I really hope she goes, redeems herself and sets up for a more positive (probably final) next season.
