2018 Olympic Figure Skating Mens FS

Hopefully he will improve alot in the years to come but he is not robotic out there. He does show emotions.

He does! You could see he was happy at least I thought so. His family or at least his brother was there and they were cheering and applauding for him.

Food for thought for anyone who is worried about Yuzu still being injured:

I mean I have no doubt that his ankle isn't completely healed yet - when I twisted my ankle and ripped something there a year ago - it still feels weak on same days and I still have issues with it occasionally. But theres a difference between fully healed and still injured I think.

As for how severe Yuzus injury still is: If he was so in pain and/or concerned about his ankle.. would he have jumped on the podiums like that? (And I mean literally) - he didn't just do it after the competition when he was still high on adrenaline but also right now at the medal ceremony. Pretty sure he wouldn't.

Regarding the medal ceremonies at these Olympics, I don't like the fact that they are awarded some time after the actual event and at another location. A lot of the hype and emotions of the competition are lost along the way... at least for the viewers/people attending.

Ofc an Olympic medal is still a huge achievement for any athlete, but it still seems kinda lame.

Also, don't let me get started on the fact that they are awarding a freaking plush toy that you can probably buy anywhere in PyeongChang (yes, I know the winners are still getting paid).

"Oh, you worked your ass off for the past 4 years or even more than that? Here's a plush toy for your achievement" :palmf:

Not to be negative towards Vincent, but while he can jump a lot his skating needs tons of work. Everyone should take a page out of Brian Orser's book and learn that skaters need to perfect their SS and the basics before they do 89747 unclean quads. You need grace, elegance and precision, not just lots of jumping.

Even though I'm a huge Vincent believer, I agree with this. I still think he has a junior feel, but he's 17 and still not their main dude, and the hype machine dies down a lot when there's no Olympics in the immediate future so I think this needs to be his time to develop.

Ha ha I kept worrying about him leaping up like that! I was just thinking how embarrassing it'd be to win the gold and then fall off the podium!

 Poor Shoma still a bit shell-shocked!!

Although I applaud him for being able to shake hands when he got his medal, that jacket was seriously over sized!

Javi had the best pants though! Not sure about the shoes...

LOL, I think Shoma was! Javi & Yuzuru look like they were in easy-breezy party-mode, but little Shoma still had his game face on...until Yuzuru took him out of that business mode. :yay: I still smile thinking about it.

Yeah, that humongous jacket on Shoma! He looked like a cute little eskimo...or sort of an oompa-loompa.

I did like Javi's pants. His shoes were, um...yeah, the jury is still out. :p

Javi and maybe Boyang were robbed. If judged correctly I think Javi silver, Boyang bronze.

I disagree. In my opinion Shoma skatings skills are much better than Boyang. Also Shoma gives a performane. There are details in his other elements to his arms and down to his fingertips that I did not get from Boyang. I like Boyang alot. I could go for Silver for Javi though.

What a shame that my alarm clock failed to wake me up like planned after measly 3 hours of sleep and after that I got inadvertently spoilered :( :drama: Who else?

Does anyone know why they now celebrate the medal ceremonies away from the actual event sites? I was discussing this with my sister and we were throwing around ideas why this is the case, but I wanted to know what the official reason was behind it.

Shoma always looks a little bit uncertain about that is happening. I think it is why he does well in competitions because he is in the clouds somewhere not really concerned about where he is. I find it charming.

Nathan is more like Yuzu, both are very business-like in their approach.
Shoma is more like Javier, both a little more laid back.
