2018 Olympic Figure Skating Mens FS

Not noted UR Shoma Uno, which has stolen silver at Javier Fernandez on the Olympic Games 2018

What would Shoma's score be, if this had been taken into account?

(Edit) I like both and I'm happy with the podium, but I'd be even happier if Javi had taken silver. However, I'm not savy enough to know if it would have been fair, so just honest question ;) also the most important thing was: he was satisfied with the performance! That's the best part

Does anyone know why they now celebrate the medal ceremonies away from the actual event sites? I was discussing this with my sister and we were throwing around ideas why this is the case, but I wanted to know what the official reason was behind it.

I don't know the official reason but I think it has more to do with Logistics and Timing.

The medals are awarded by high level officials and I don't think they can be on the actual event site at the time the games are completed. Some games don't exactly finish on time. Also, I don't think they want the medals to be transported to and from different places. There's a risk of it getting lost by the staffs and also by the olympians who would be probably be busy with their equipment, doing interviews, etc.

For me, I am actually okay with this format and have the medal ceremonies done separately.

Yeah I'm wondering this too.

The only thing I can think of is it does give more people more opportunity to see the medallists get medalled. Like before it would have been only those people in the stadium or event ground who saw the moment. Now, even those who can't get tickets to see the athletes actually compete can still see them receive their medals, which is nice I guess.

The medal ceremonies were at a Medal square, outside, in Sochi, too. Maybe so that more people can come and watch even if they didn't get a ticket for the FS.

Also loved the part when the camera came in to zoom on all three of them before they came out on stage & Yuzuru turned away from talking to Javi to wave happily at the camera...and then he picked up the hands of serious-looking little Shoma to wave back at the camera. :laugh2: Very cute, those three.

Wow, Yuzuru showing his previous Olympic podium experience, passing this knowledge down to Shoma, so that Shoma in turn can pass to others in 2022. Very important knowledge.

I don't know why out of sudden I thought about 'Lion King' and 'Circle of Life'...

I'm so happy.:yahoo:
(a little bit off topic) yesterday Federer became again nr 1 and Yuzu became again olympic champion. :hap93:

:yes2:
(maybe I would've collpased by now if Sui/Han had been thrown into this mix of excellence/trying to focus on the positive:agree:)

Regarding the medal ceremonies at these Olympics, I don't like the fact that they are awarded some time after the actual event and at another location. A lot of the hype and emotions of the competition are lost along the way... at least for the viewers/people attending.

Ofc an Olympic medal is still a huge achievement for any athlete, but it still seems kinda lame.

Also, don't let me get started on the fact that they are awarding a freaking plush toy that you can probably buy anywhere in PyeongChang (yes, I know the winners are still getting paid).

"Oh, you worked your ass off for the past 4 years or even more than that? Here's a plush toy for your achievement" :palmf:

But it's such a cute plush toy...it even has its own little hat.

I see what you mean though about the change in location, but then I'm not sure more people get to see them? Quite a conundrum!

CONGRATULATIONS to the medalists!!!:points:

Yuzuru made mistakes in his program but for less than a month of training he did so well. Also, to 'that' one who had called his SEIMEI program junior-ish, clearly you don't know what you're saying. Also I liked how he showed more emotion in this skate than his WR skate back in 2015. A glorious moment for Yuzuru and a well deserved gold. I'm also happy for Javi for medalling, though I would've loved if he placed 2nd. Congratulations to the cricket boys and the coaches.

Beijing 2022, final flight predication: Uno, Jin, Chen, Zhou, Cha and Gogolev. Unless Hanyu wants (and his body allows) him to go for the three-peat. Quad count, 24-30.

My god, I'll quit watching if that's what it's only going to be about.
