They had the Knierims on the NBCSN pre-show. They discussed the injury and how difficulty it was. It highlighted yet again how dangerous this sport is, especially for women. :eeking: It's almost a requirement to suffer several concussion and broken bones in pairs.

I know we're always making fun of participation medals but I think pairs women should always get a medal or some token for taking these crazy risks. :points:

Why does the Eurosport guy saying they're broadcasting the slalom ski from 'yongpyong?' is that really the area's name? /confused

Javi fluff piece  They're taking the angle of him inspiring Spanish children to skate. Hopefully we'll start seeing a bunch Javi clones soon :yahoo:

I want to see everyone skate but I am at work ;o Was looking at the schedule per skater and it seems the last group will start from 13:40. Almost 3 hours later^^ Wish everyone a great skate~ I am sure GS forum will be freezing a bit later : )

My mother says "I love that little Spaniard!" So good luck Javi from my mom and good luck Nathan from me! Good luck to all!

I'm very nervous for Nathan. I'm afraid he is going to completely bomb his SP. Why isn't Raf dealing with this? Doesn't he see what's happening to his charge? Didn't he see the team competition? Nathan seems completely spooked. As I've been saying on other threads, he has too much pressure on him. I so hope I'm wrong. Anyway good luck Adam and Vincent.
And Javi and Yuzu and Jin. And Denis 10 and MCM and Misha Ge.

Yeah that's an uphill battle unfortunately, since the Spain NT is really strong, I can see why most kids (if not almost all) would be drawn to it instead, especially the athletic-since-very-young ones.

The doggy has pooped! Great timing, my fluffy bb, now I can perch myself in front of the computer in peace. ;3

Just walked my doggo, too. I'm ready to feel nauseous every time a skater takes the ice and contemplate Johnny Weir's hair!

Well, we've doubled the ice rinks (there weren't that many to begin with) and this year we had over 30 novice girls! Not so many boys, but well, let's wait a few years.
What Javi has done for the sport in Spain is just immense. And the federation wasn't nice to him when he was starting, so it really speaks for just how nice he is and how much he values his origins and the sport.

been good if Yuzu could have skated last so he would have known how much he needed to risk (re his ankle).

You aren’t. He looked like he wanted to run very, very far away and maybe compete in track in the summer games during the practice stream. I wanted to give him a hug during that and I’m not someone who’s enthusiastic about his medal prospects (I don’t hate him, I just think he’s the victim of how America treats athletes and our lack of a bench in figure skating). He seems to head into the first jumping pass expecting to fall and by the end he looked afraid to jump, period. If Hanyu does well, and it seems that he well, I hope Chen uses that as motivation and a way to focus. Maybe the actual competition will help.

But, seriously, someone needs to give him a hug already. What’s doubly awful is he seems pretty level-headed, but the nation/media lost its mind over him. My boyfriend is competitive internationally and a pretty big name in what he does, but he’s the most grounded person even after a loss, because he has the ability to not let all the pressure and expectation eat him alive, even when he’s being told he’s repping America. But the Olympics are a level of “huge” that can’t be defined and I don’t know how anybody holds up. Yagudin was public about seeing a sports psychologist; if you’re going to demand an 18 year old win a gold medal on first try, we as a nation should probably pitch in for all the therapy that’s going to be required for that feat.
