Denis Ten

Ouch, only a 2S so no points on that. Beautiful 3A though, right into a great combo spin with good positions. An alright 3Lz+2T, was looking for a 3T instead. But the spin right after looked a bit tight on the levels. Strong, sensitive footwork sequence and a good butterfly into the back sit spin.

The popped salchow and toe will hurt his base value by quite a bit. He'll lose about 12 points in total with those mistakes, but a very strong 3A. He's not going to be pleased with this effort considering his fans in Korea. Still, wonderful posture, good speed and steps, and nice feeling for the operatic music.

Denis Ten may be a canary in the coalmine, at least in terms of the toll all these quads take on the body.

But what a beautiful skater when he's on.

The documentary korea aired on denis really made me feel for him though... they had x rays shown, and the doctor talked about how he has like... unevenly shaped hip bones or something? And I believe Carroll also mentioned before he has uneven feet. That has got to be tough, being so prone to injury. I know it would do a number on my confidence. He's like the nishikori of figure skating.

Is he still recouperating from injury?

I may be the only Rizzo superfan, but screw it, LET’S GO MATTEO

Live Yuzudaughter Commentary: “Am I allowed to like Denis Ten? Did he ever best Yuzuru?”

Ermmmmm... I’ll have to look that up.

Is he still recouperating from injury?

I would think he is, I know a lot of people are so "over" denis being injured repeatedly, but that sh** on the documentary looked serious. And it's not even under his control...
