2018 Olympic Figure Skating Mens SP

Incidenatally did people read the article this week in NYT about Adam and his body image issues? Rafael actually had a quote in the article about "well I have to figure out how to get an elephant to jump." He admitted he realized his comments about weight were not good for the skaters and seems to have reformed. But I could not believe the quote about the elephants. And yet for it to be printed in the NYT - not even say it in private or think it but to say that out loud to a journalist.

100% agree. My brother in law sent me that article and I had such a wtf moment.
I really do would like to see Nathan under a different coach - maybe somebody like borser, someone that forces him to focus on the artistic side and who is also good at dealing with the mental shenanigans.
I’m not the biggest fan of Nathan’s skating but boy is talented and it would be a shame not to see where he could be lead.

I'm dissapointed with judges. When they shouldn't they go flat out with inflated scores.

Today they had moment when they should have went crazy with score, and they were stingy with Hanyu score

Did they? He lost BV in not doing the 4Lo and lost one spin level though. (compared to his WR score)

The last men group were just like in 2017 Worlds. Two unclean performance and 4 clean performances. Trying to predict what will happen in the fs.....

Sad for Nathan. But will he channel his inner Mao Asada and give us a '14 repeat by skating a flawless program and landing 6 quads and going all emotional at the end?

My podium dreams have shifted now. I now need all the old veterans to take this. I need Javi, Carolina, and Cappellini/Lanotte to take this because I want a veterans clawing their way to the top despite the odds podium sweep with Aliona lol.

Is Yuzu part of your veteran list too? :D cause I mean I’m totally with you but hahah I’m really biased for Yuzu to have a double gold.

Cause have been really upset by my faves not repeating their golds in Sochi

But agreed. Hoping Italians get their bronze, Javi javi PLS SKATING GODS; let him hold on to his medal. Pretty please? So peeved he missed bronze at Sochi!!

I hope Nathan pulls a Mao and has the redemption skate of his life.

And Yuzuru is everything. So glorious.

You can knock me over with a feather. I would never in a million years have predicted this outcome after the sp.

I am in shock.

Hmm, the only surprises to me are Nathan bombing so hard and Aliev perfectly upping his tech content. I think everyone else skated and placed as expected.

OMG Nathan... is in group 2?! Nooooo :( this cannot be!

But sending Mao Sochi vibes. Hopefully it will come together!

But I think Shoma is one of the 2 people I can trust now with a ending skate. The other being Boyang. Their nerves of steel just simply impressive!

Javier's program was absolutely delightful. I've been looking forward to seeing it skated to its best, and I'm so glad for him that he got everything exactly in place this afternoon!

I think at the Europeans, fans were giving Javi the T/M Candyman treatment regarding the Chaplin SP, but watching it here, it is quite delightful and not cheesy.

Not sure about that. Brian has acquired all the quad experience training with Yuzu and Javier and will now apply to the future Canadian OGM Gogolev.

Hey hey hey don't put that pressure on this kid. Let him be himself and do his best. (Though I do appreciate your support :))

It might actually be time for USFSA to get to begging Orser to take Nathan. I can't help but feel like he's going to need some serious rehabilitation after this Olympic experience.

Maybe Adam Rippon can write a recommendation letter. Adam was Orser's ex-student. Brian Orser would love to learn the secrets of the 4Lz and 4F.
