2018 Olympic Figure Skating Mens SP

Side note: The Sochi men's SP thread went over 100 pages. This one has just doubled it. Tomorrow there will be chaos.

Too right. I've resigned to the fact that my ancient Mac can't stream and do GS at the same time without crashing every 2 mins when it's really busy. So, my unwanted commentary will come from now on from my phone :)

A bit disappointed but he botched his combo. Standards have gone up. FS qualification is now almost 75 and above.

True dat. For his debut he actually was really good. But hey if he continues on with this upward trend I won't be surprised he'll be among those next big ones. Maybe. LMAO

People find me weird cause i have a big smile on my face since this morning. I'm too happy for Yuzu and Boyang.:yahoo:

Me, as a fellow Msian. He did try his hardest best, improving his step sequence.
Hopefully Julian"s able to land a quad in future to put him in contention
He'll take this as his motivation to step up his game. Like Wakaba said, "the revenge quest for next 4 years" ;)

Can't say for sure that that was the greatest Men's SP competition of all time, but I'm confident that tomorrow is the most anticipated Free competition of all time.

I went to the skate gods and said in a hopeful voice 'Nathan and Mirai - please?'

But the skate gods pointed to Mount Olympus and said 'No -'Nathan or Mirai - not both'.

A bit off topic but i wish the scoring in ladies were similar to men though. You can tell that the scoring here is quite reasonable and everyone in TOP 5 has a fighting chance to podium. So much gap, magical and complicated stuffs in the ladies.

Chen's clean layout would have 4Lz+3T, 4F, and 3A, which give him higher base value than competitors' jumping passes. If he had landed those jumps clean, then I would have no doubt that he would be ahead of other top flight skaters.

I don't think so. Nathan doesn't get +3 GOE on his jumps whereas Yuzuru and Javier get +2 and +3 on most of their jumps. Even though he might have harder jumps but his landing never has good flow coming out of them. Plus his component score won't be as high as Yuzuru or Javier if they all skated clean.

I would personally have Fernandez in first place right now - his performance sparkled. Hanyu's was more of a 'slow burn', excellent nonetheless.

Very sad that these guys did not make the cut: Julian, Denis, and Chris Martinez.

Congrats to the Top 5! Not 12points difference, though... I would have placed more closely btwn these boys were I a judge. :ohwell: There were so many performances I did enjoy and some indeed grabbed my heart today. :)
