Why wasn't Sui and Han in final group? Being world champ? How does it work?

I think it's because they missed the whole 2016-17 GP season? And didn't do many/any challengers this year, it just reduces their world standing points, meaning that with small Pairs flights, they are the ones behind the cut off.

What a fun skate by Valentina and Ondrej! They should be so proud of themselves for how well they have performed at these Olympics. It's especially impressive how well Valentina is doing in pairs, after such a long career in singles. Well done!
