2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 2

Interesting that there isn't any politicking happening for Bradie as the US might have hoped after making her their national champion....and thank goodness, because I would honestly die if her PCS were any higher here.
Hooray for clean skates today though! Carolina and Evgenia made me smile. You can tell how hard coming back from this injury and dealing with this new rivalry with Zagitova has been for Medvedeva, she is such a fighter.
As for Kaetlyn's PCS being higher than Satoko's..... :|

Prediction from this same tech panel in the ladies individual - Med's Lutz gets a (!) or even (e) (if as bad as Euros). Zagitova gets 1 surprise under-rotation call, probably on her 2A+3T or 3S. Just a prediction. Which might make this interesting.

She had a pretty obvious balance check when she was skating into her jump combo — looked like she caught a rut in the ice — plus some of her transitions were more perfunctory and rushed than usual from her (one of my biggest beefs with Zagitova). That's what I meant by rough. The footwork sequence was painfully slow.

I feel like a lot of this is the standard fare for Evgenia? Just not quite as slow.

But this is coming from someone who hasn't caught her skates in a while. I've forgotten how much she's improved tbh.

This happened with Gracie in Sochi as well. In the team event, she was low balled and in the individual her PCS score jumped. Bradie will score higher in the individual competition. Or st least she would if she was so early in the competition. Sigh...

Not when Chen can't rotate a combo and Mirai skates emotionlessly. The judges lowballed Bradie.
Bradie is judged fairly imo, it's just people are too used with PCS being handed out when the skater is consistent or being a national champion of few country... so people expect Bradie to get more PCS and being in 70's club. Now Bradie didn't get PCS boost by being US champ people got mad lol. she already got extra 2 points from her SkAm SP where she got 28 PCS. Mirai would get slightly more than Bradie here (~31 like she get in GP, maybe 32 if she land nice 3A) and Karen probably the same with Mirai.

Mirai's scoring potential is in her TES, not her PCS. And I'm sure she could have gotten at least a 30 for her short program--the same as Bradie.

Yes, likely she would have gotten a similar PCS score. However, her TES score would likely be lower. Mirai's highest international score this year was 65.17. She has not been looking good in practice...lots of UR. Medvedeva is where she is mostly because of her consistency, not any other skill that she has that far exceeds the field. Consistency matters.
