I watched this event with my mom, who doesn't really watch figure skating unless its with me (she doesn't know how to find streams, etc). She LOVED Alina. She thought her Rippons were "beautiful" and liked her program and dress.

Which Sotskova’s dress do you think was best dress? The awful pink one that made her look like a candy floss, or the grey one that made her look like a mouse? I am usually not very picky with skaters dresses, but I thought her selection this season was rather unfortunate. Luckily her skating is much better than last season, but the dresses are going downhill.

Can Elena come to Poland and switch citizenship? She would have no pressure at all, mental comfort and guaranteed every possible Olympics. And it's not even far away to Moscow. She can even change her name to Helena Radionowska...

What a delight Alina was!! She had such a different attitude on the ice, she seemed so happy in the beginning and her control and command on the ice was noticeable.

Was there a slight issue on the salchow or was that just a shaky camera on my video? Couldn't really tell. I love Alina so much more than Evgenia and Alina DOES NOT flutz. Hopefully with the presence of a Russian lady that does a lutz properly everytime, Evgenia will be called and downgraded on her flutz.

Just realized 3T technique is keep going downhill with all pre rotation and all. Quite few ladies are using toe -axel like Daria... Its so ugly i love her 3Lz and 3F rippon its so beautifu but her 3T is painful to watch. Serafima also another example

Some secondary observation:

I was surprised that Russian announcer pronounced Sotskova as Sotskova but Kostornaya as Kastarnaya, I am seriously confounded. Also "Palina Tsurskaya". I know that some that Cyryllic letters don't quite convey the exact sound and that it depends on the accent of the syllable too but it's damn confusing for me.

By 2022 I expect Anya to have a similar(or higher) degree of dominance as Medvedeva has had, completely revolutionizing the sport in process.

Maybe but we will see. Julia, Elena and Tuk all lost to puberty. I have no favs here. The ones I kind of like aren't making it to the Olympics.

Yeah...Lenok was only a few months too young for Sochi. It’s hard to stay at the top when for four years in a field that’s constantly reloading every season.

Well she might partially benefit from puberty due to gaining some stregth, she is so thin and fragile. Body type seems similar to Medvedeva's who just did not struggle with it at all. Also, needs to get hit quite hard to go from having a fully rotated quad to struggling with triples.

Apart from jumps though, everything is at a very special level. Charisma off the charts - the way she carries herself is extraordinary.

What is Gubanova skating to??? Pretty music/program overall but she has some interesting technique with her arms while jumping or going into a jump.

Had Zhenya been here, I don't think we would have seen these scores. Her presence would have capped some of this PCS nonsense. I think she is also aware of it, and how close Alina is now, so she really wanted to be here. But depending how Europeans turn out, she can still reset the situation, especially as Carolina is going to be there, so both of them might help push it all down. Alina's PCS won't be as high as they were here by default, as these are Nationals, but if Zhenya is clean, I expect at least some reestablishing of the order. Sotskova will never score this internationally in any case.

While i dont like some negative connotations you put in there i absolutely agree with your point :thumbsup: Still (and sadly) we must keep in mind Zhenya has interruption in her training process (which should lead to perform her best in OG), while Zagi can easer be at her very best right at that time. Im pretty sure Caro will be.

Just watched Elena R...While I've never been into her skating I feel bad for her...just being passed over. You could see the hurt. I wanted to give her a hug.

I saw where Adelina congratulated Sima on Instagram for her showing at Nationals. Top 10 ain’t too shabby and I’m glad she is seeing so much love for her efforts.

Again the thing of scratchy barely rotated triples vs fully rotated quads and measured fastest rotation speed in the world. . -. IMO Radionovas issues werent even jump related, she just never was good enough pcs wise. Otherwise she would be 2015 world champion.

That's why I never became a fan. I was hoping that that would improved because I liked her personality.
