High 3F, well-executed (maybe a bit open with the legs). Flip-out on the 3A which he usually is solid on. Okay combo spin with alright speed. Only a 2Lz+3T, but at least it counts as a combo. A bit labored on the flying camel spin, only a Level 2. Fairly sharp footwork sequence with many of the moves going right with the beat of the music. Illusion entry into the final combo spin, slightly slow.

I almost wish that he kept his Olympic short program which showed off his charisma and vitality. The errors on his jumps will likely hit him toward the second page and thereby the first group tomorrow. I think he's still recovering from his injuries over the summer and isn't 100% ready with his conditioning.

Is it pathetic that this music reminds me of Yu/Jin in the 11-12 season? Man, I'm nuts...

It is a hommage to this era, circa 2010 one third skated to this music I feel and the rest probably wanted to, just did not want to admit:laugh:

Hey folks,
We had a huge spike which caused our brand new (and very expensive) server to go wonky. :curse: Techs are working on it and we hope to have everything resolved soon.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Well on the plus side, it did wait until the end of the event. So that's something. :)

Came home from work (and will go out two hours later), and currently just watched Nathan Chen and Sergei Voronov (will watch the others after dinner). I did not like their hairdos. :noshake: Some thoughts:

- I honestly did not expect Nathan Chen's best jump to be his 3A. Sure, the 3Lz+3T was very nice, but I was expecting something like 4S+3T. Not quite disappointment, more like... um, "Oh, great height there"? Appreciated but not wowed. Jumps aside, he was very much committed to the performance and the program was well made, but I'm not sure whether it fits his style 100%. Maybe it's just because Takahashi Daisuke left a strong impression on me, but to me Caravan has a very... um, uncle-esque vibe that requires uncle-esque cheek and swagger. Nathan Chen has cheek, but his cheek feels, um, young(this feels so awkward when written, arrgh). I don't think he doesn't pull off the program, he does, it's just that I'd prefer him do that when he's over twenty.

- Sergei Voronov changed his music, right? I'm pretty sure that wasn't the song I heard at Nepala. Anyway, I'm like :eek:hwell: on this. It's... okay. I don't get anything else. Oh, I still don't like the costume.

Yay, forum's finally back on T.T

Since I already scrolled through the protocols, some judging things first: ?? Uhmmm why is every single flip jump called in this competition?? (OK, not uncle Alexei's, but still) Julian's flip was a clear inside edge, so was Nathan's, etc etc. @Fabio Bianchetti can meet me in the parking lot anytime :dev2: OTOH, since positive thinking is important, I appreciate the strict (and quite correct) UR calls from this technical panel. Everyone's StSq got a hit too, if I'm not wrong. Lots of level 2s and 3s. Anyway, Zhou didn't get away with his URs this time, so I'm quite a happy camper.

OK, back to men's second group:
- Vincent was kinda meh for me. Never was that much into his skating, and the Exogenesis rip off from Jeremy didn't help any. Didn't want to compare but couldn't help it - such a downgrade.

- Matteo!! So happy that he went clean, program was not bad at all. His jumps are so tiny though, jeez.

- Sigh, Morisi :drama: Well, if even Eteri can't get a man to be consistent, I'm inclined to believe men aren't capable of being consistent RIP

- Nathan!! Love this program, high energy, fun, nice opening. Mostly, he looked like he really enjoyed himself with this. Good job, even with the downgraded tech content. (Also, this better not deteriorate by the end of the season :roll5:)

- Aww, the uncles. Messy as always, but uhh, I just got to say Alexei is really hot :p

Congratulations with GP series start and good luck everyone!

Another "please get rid of" Nathan costume. This time it's all about that annoying vest. Because I like this program very much and want to fully enjoy it.
And so good to see Nate having fun during his program.

(I'm refusing to understand this new GOE scoring. How on earth same element supposedly estimated by professionals could be valued with range from 1 to 5 ??!)

Dear Lord, I just saw that even MK's I Am a Loon, I mean Claire de Lune program scored higher PCS than Julian's. Third lowest PCS of the event. For what is essentially a clean program.

Well wouldn't that steam on a cold day.

This is what makes it very hard to convince casual fans that skating isn't more rigged than a crooked casino.

Just got caught up on Alexei's program. Definitely an improvement on Finlandia, and the only way from here is still up! :)

....has Matteo always been blond?

Blond? Rizzo has had a darkish brown hair as long as I have seen his skating, he has never been blond.

He skated here just beautifully, WOW, and did not get the scores he deserved. The same applies to Yee!!!

The result should have been, IMO:

1. Chen
2. Yee
3. Rizzo
4. Brezina
5. Voronov

Oh my, Zhou keeps underrotating... Why does he not change his coach and learn to rotate his jumps properly!!! If even the Skate America judging is noticing his underrotations, the same definetely will happen elsewhere, too.

I've been watching and I totally agree on this one, much as I like it that Brezina skated well (except for the flip) but Yee was really, really good today. While Rizzo clearly was undermarked. We'll see what happens in the Long.

I don't understand how anyone can think the flip was clean. It had the worst-looking landing of all three!

Uhm, is that an appeal to authority argument? Cause to be polite, as much as I like his skating, Johnny's no Shin Amano

That’s right. Johnny Weir is a world bronze medalist. Shin Amano placed 28th place the one time he made it to worlds.

GS back:yahoo:

Laughed all the way when Nathan was on the ice. Seriously I believe the uni experience helped (in a way).
Congrats to Julian! A clean SP in his first GP!

... sorry, I fail to see the relevancy in comparing their competitive records in regards to assessing technical issues? Just because you can do things doesn't mean you're qualified to judge them. Don't strain yourself reaching.
