2018 US Championships Sr Men FS

How high does USFSA and the fans at GS think Adam can place at the Olympics? I understand bumping an athlete for another with medal potential but I’m not sure the prudence of dissing your silver medalists for someone who isn’t going to have much chance to stand on the podium. I’ve never really been impressed with Adam’s skating so maybe I’m just missing something. Maybe he is considered to be a potential medalist.
No, you probably don't miss anything. I have been saying exactly the same.
Ross is a silver medalist. USFSA, accept it and send him no matter what your speculation is.

Now Worlds is a different thing...

You have to be an IN subscriber to watch the selection announcement? If the UFSFA and NBC or anyone else are wondering why they're losing viewers, it's got nothing to do with team selection kerfuffles and everything to do with them trying to make it as difficult and expensive as possible to be a fan.

Sam Auxier: "We looked at the criteria, average scores through the season and head-to-heads. On the criteria, we looked Adam's seasons. He had one of the strongest seasons of all the men based on average scores. He was selected for Worlds last year but had to pull out due to injury."

the US men's Olympic team is two Asian Americans and an openly gay man. How great is that! That has to be a first for the history books.

:cheer:

this is the problem with going by body of work critieria for one discipline.

They could have used body of work for ashley wagner again & didn't for the women discipline.

if it hold true the nathan, vincent, adam--i feel sorry for ross. and adam

people (not figure skating insiders-fans) will state what difference between ashley's body of work , & adams' so adam been to the olympics in 2010-
adam has finished behind ross at nationals before. adam did decent and went to gp final 2 straight years 2016/2017, 2017/2018

ashley went 4 straight years-- 2012/2013, 2013/14 2014/2015 medal each of those years and 2015/2016-where she didn't medal.
adam went twice didn't medal. so if body of work ashley should have been named and sorry but she was national champ when she did that. ashley won 4cc-
karen chen, mirai- national champ-didn't go.
mirai- went 3 -4 times didn't win-medal yes, but not win with who going. karen chen didn't medal 2 times where did she finish.

so they chose nationals and worlds to keep ashley off time according to certain articles and kept body of work out of it. because mirai, karen, even bradie didn't beat ashley body of work

nathan body of work did.
adam-
ross-
vincent
jason
max -they all had their chance to beat nathan and show their stuff and body of work, adam, jason didn't do it.
vincent just jumped up to seniors like bradie.

the talk won't be nice and in favor of the sport of figure skating -in fact it will be the same old, same old, they will put and place, favor the skaters they want on the team in each competition they skate in.

i can see justifying nathan, vincent, ross- with a quad inconsistent, sorry but adam inconsistent- the one fact he does have over ross is olympics he went and finished 6th his 1st time out in 2010.

nathan and vincent hasn't but both was in juniors at the time- i think ross was vying for a spot on the olympic team in 2010 also , didn't quallify- so that is possible the difference he is around the same age.
