I think he wanted on the record book of hopefully landing 6 quads in an event at world, because next year, the men only have 7 jump pass and it will make it very hard to do 6 quads then...

Actually, it won't change anything he can still do 6 quads. He can just take out the last triple he has left.

I think Nathan will start training a +3Lo combo and a +1/2lo+3F combo to make up for the point loss.

Don't you live in a place people go to vacation? I've always wondered where people who live in Hawaii or Bahamas go to vacation. Or do they just stroll out their front do and say "Ah.. Vacation destination achieved.."

i prefer programs too where it's less obvious that the program was created just to score points by jumping (but who are we kidding, all programs are designed for points i guess), but still, you can't deny nathan worked so hard today esp after like...10+ falls from the people in group 4. he could have freaked out, and a mental breakdown too and fell 3-6 times (just like olympics) but he was the only one who kept it together. if that's not improvement in jumps + mental state (which is also super important, as evidenced by this free program by group 4) at least, i don't know what is.

You said he improved "the free program" in your post. I disagree. His jumps are not improving either, the landings are just as scratchy - but since nobody even landed tonight, the jumps have more GOEs. If you had said he improved his mental strength I would've thumbs-upped

I think Nathan has decent SS but in a program with so many really difficult jumps I think you have to be an incredibly mature and experienced skater to do both. Like with Hanyu. He has learned to do it all. A complete package skater. Nathan is still, to me, a work in progress. I can see myself becoming a Nathan fan in the future. For now it's not really my cup of tea. I'd rather watch Misha Ge or Javier or Shoma.

Kolyada messed up less than others but his LP is such a snooze fest.

Tomono was a star tonight, his future is bright. He should have come second in LP.

I hope ISU will think over the scoring strategy for next season. Messy programs rack up too many TES points. Not to mention they are not sufficiently punished in PCS

I'm going to chalk up Nathan's PCS and GOE to basically judges joy that he skated a cleanish skate. Honestly when you sit through something like that --and you're exhausted from a long competition, you're a bit less sharp on the scoring.

There's studies that show that judges tend to give less precise verdicts after a long day of hearings/trials. I think a similar thing was at play here.

It's horrible to me that those falls are worth more than for example, Dima popping his 4t to a 3t and getting 0 points. Falls should not be worth more than Zayaking...especially repeated falls.

I think the zayak rule is good and to avoid it skaters should have balanced programs. But yes, popping should be actually worth more than falling if the zayak rule doesn't apply.
