Uno had problems with new boots and injured his right ankle in practice a day before the competition. He could not jump the quad flip and loup at all, but he still went for them when he shouldn't have even competed. And I don't think that he is a bad competitor, considering that he hasn't had any total splats like this when healthy.

but we are all expert at judging here, we have slow mode eyes that can see UR before the judge panel even have a chance to review.. plus we are all expert in how pleasing a program is because of yearssss of posting.. and when it come to someone threatening the status of our favorite, the claws really come out..

Well, in my opinion, the judges were in a tough place. After Shoma's very very very VERY generous PCS, Nathan had to have more. They were both overscored but 3 falls severely impacts the quality and presentation of a program. There's no way Nathan wasn't going to have higher PCS than Shoma with a clean skate, it wouldn't be right.
What they need to do is stop giving out PCS on reputation. Neither of them should've been that high, and definitely not the highest of the night... But after how the night went and the state of Men's Singles right now, I do understand Chen's ridiculous PCS.

Nathan skated like a true champion. It's nitpicking to compare him to some other competitor in another competition.
And his flips in this FS are his best this whole season!
I don't care what anyone says. I am very proud of Shona. He came into this event injured and did his best to ensure Japan kept their spots. Today he didn't go in to win, he was in fifth and in no shape to really compete at his best. I'm proud that he fought to the end.
You're comparing Hanyu at his peak to an 18 year old. Nathan won with an exclamation point here. And he still has room to get better.

I beg to differ, I think Nathan’s costume is classy and sophisticated in its simplicity, and the hambok-inspired collar (which I assume was intentional for Pyeongchang and just makes me smile) is a brilliant and innovative design detail.

I'm not comparing him to anyone. I'm merely stating that his skating skills are not worthy of 9's, regardless of who's present at the competition.
someone with a radar gun to clock the speed would be good to, that way there is not dispute....

Is it crazy to expect judges to show some consistency and for the scores to be applied in some kind of logical, objective fashion across competitions and to different competitors, according to the guidelines? I guess so, since it never happens, but it's not "nitpicking" to call judges out for this kind of thing. Nathan still would've won if they hadn't gone nuts with his PCS.

I was just asking. Personally I didn't notice anything, but the only competition I ever went live the speed differences were noticeable. I'm not sure why you feel the need the make fun of me.
It's nitpicking because he still would have won no matter what score he received in skating skills.

of course, he did the best he can : he's a great champion : he came to represent Japan and he can be proud of his program even though he failed some jumps. I love this skater.

This is basically all that was. People keep bashing and harping on it but after that disaster of a final group, I can't say I wouldn't just start throwing 9s to someone who managed to stay on his feet. People are just complaining because he's Nathan. They can't complain because he actually didn't fall so it's going to be the PCS.
He still would have won with whatever you think he should have received.
