LOL, I've heard a lot of excuses for his splatting before but blaming Evan is a new and rather creative one.

I’m not blaming Evan for Kolyada’s inconsistency. I am noting that the rules and BV changes after his win are why an all-triple programme is not an option, so Kolyada’s layout options are basically either a variant of what some of the skaters in the earlier flights go for (two 2As, which Rizzo typically does) or to go for the 4Lz... which is worth more than two 2As.

That was inspiring. Shoma fell 3 times but held on to every jump, managed to hit all the three big combos in the 2nd half.

Look at the TES he can get even while injured. This man is the real deal. What a terrible bit of luck this was for him; this should have been his chance to be on top rather than Hanyu.

That injury is still bothering Shoma quite a bit. Three falls on the first few quads, a step-out on the 3A, and a few lost levels on spins and footwork here and there. Not sure how many URs there were but I suspect that there will be at least a couple on the quads. But he really did fight in the back half of the program with that last 4T+2T, 3A+1Lo+3F, and 3S+3T. He really saved himself and those 3 spots for Japan next year with that effort.

Not his best but I'm crying nonetheless:sad21:. This may not have been his best performance, but wow I have so much respect for his competitive drive. Shoma is such a fighter.

What a fighter. He's probably in a lot of pain - poor guy. That tech score is a bit ridiculous considering all the falls (of course he'll get those deductions). Japan should be so grateful for his grit - he probably saved those three spots by putting himself through a huge amount of suffering.

A great comeback in the second half. Really admire his determination. Hanyu also had to skate through injury and take painkillers for that OGM. Amazing respect for them.
