This is going to be interesting

Marin says she talked with Rafael, and she hopes to spend a half training time in US with Rafael and work with Takeshi Honda in another half in Japan (she says she can understand Takeshi easier because she can communicate in the same language) Her main coach is still Rafael.

I assumed something would change with her coaching situation after last season. Things with Marin and Eunsoo definitely didn't go as I expected at this time last year.

Man, that sounds awesome!

And what the heck is Fairy of the Forest / Galaxy? Kind of sounds like an opening or ending theme of an anime series, or video game music. *hopeful*

The current speculation is that it comes from here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00836TAFY/ref=dm_ws_sp_ps_dp

(EDIT 2: All credit for this goes to the SYWTWFS discord!)

Potentially this could be a program that was originally intended for Zijun Li, although she never performed it in the 2017-18 season. (IIRC her 2017-18 FS was originally supposed to be Galaxy by Yuko Toyoda as featured on this album.)

EDIT: Here are the links to the actual songs since you can't listen on Amazon lol
Galaxy: https://youtu.be/sFHu-E0jiEs
Unfortunately I cannot find a recording of Fairy of the Forest, at least the version by Yuko Toyoda. There is a piece of the same name by William Gillock but it sounds nothing like the preview from Amazon.

Ah, thanks for that! Those pieces could make for a very interesting skating program indeed. Very soft and flowy.

Sounds like another year of struggling in the short and delivering a fantastic long program to get back to 4th place. Sure wish she'd just play to her strengths.

I must disagree; Mai gets so much negativity during the season it seems for having programs that are "generic" or one-note. I think it's good that she tries new and harder things while also keeping her own strengths. Skaters must innovate and evolve to get recognized and to improve their performance.

Apart from ice shows, it seems Rika has been spending her whole summer in Colorado Springs :p Hope she is enjoying her time there as much as possible. I cannot wait to see her new programs in action... and to see a 170+ point ladies' FS live... I jest, I jest!

Nana Araki and Tomoe Kawabata will be at JGP Courchevel! (Well - provisionally of course.)

Pretty awesome to see two juniors I've enjoyed in the past, although I'm a bit surprised they chose to put them together since I would have thought that they're two of the stronger juniors with a good chance of making the final, especially since they are previously known by the judges...?

Anyway, super looking forward to the season finally starting!

So no Ayaka Hosoda...
I hope that Asian open trophy won't be cancelled. Maybe she can be sent there.

I hope she'll get assignments later in the season. Japanese fed should give her a chance
