I’ve said it before, the advance of the 3A will obsolete a whole generation of skaters and demand a whole new type of athleticism in skaters. Petite and curvy doesn’t cut it anymore, you need to be lean and mean.
Inevitably this means we get to see more ‘children’ amongst the top.
And perhaps a greater turnover once these ‘children’ grow and mature, finding out they cannot keep their shape without the required self discipline and training regime.
In the novice ranks, like we saw in Moscow Championship early September, many of those kids are advancing rapidly.
In the juniors, now competing in the JGP it is only experience and resulting toughness and stability that’s still to be added.
