I didn't know Andrei had a bad knee! Poor guy, perhaps that explains his bad season, he came 10th at last World's and I was looking forward to the 19-20 season though it was not to be.

Here's hoping he recovers well. Go LazuKING!

I think he was initially misdiagnosed, kept skating without the knowledge of how serious his injury was, and then got diagnosed properly later on and now he’s treating it properly.
On one hand lockdown is good for all those injured athletes, since they can properly heal and go back with everyone else.

Do you know something??

Only what's written in the news...
"Today, May 15, a meeting of the executive committee of the Russian Figure Skating Federation was held, at which the main composition of the candidates for the national team for the next season was approved".
There are no official announcement of RusFed after the meeting yet.

 Why? Do you know something??

Because he didn't compete last year and has no results. Plus only 6 get on the main team.

ETA: This is like when Kovtun didn't really compete during the Olympic season (2 withdrawals), the following season he was not on the team. He got added to the team when he won nationals and then they removed Erokhov from the main team.

By the way, I heard Erokhov may have retired.

Something you've missed that's quite important

In addition, a very important decision was taken. Recently, federations of many countries invite Russian skaters - both very young and well-known. Why should we lose talent? Now athletes who play or play for the Russian national team are eligible for an official transition two years after receiving a request from a foreign federation, and participating in the national championships - a year later.

I just focused on the team itself.

Anyway, does it mean that now there are up to 3 years of intermission before switching to another country? That's ages in figure skating.

Two years from a request if you have competed internationally and 1 year if just nationally as I'm reading on the Russian forums. I don't think they would have to sit out an additional year as they have already sat out the required time per the ISU guidelines. But I guess Russia could always just refuse to release them or hold them longer. I can't remember how long they held Iliushechkina, but Righini and Miliukov was not longer than 1 year. Two years is still a long time.

ETA: Also, according to FSU, policy was discussed only but not official yet.

ETA: Okay so Piseev says it was approved. Gorshkov also makes a statement.

The Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) has established a procedure for changing sports citizenship for athletes, now the skater who has played for the Russian team will be able to represent another country two years after a request from the foreign federation, FFKR Honorary President Valentin Piseev told RIA Novosti. On Friday, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the FFKKR took place.

“The system of changing citizenship was approved, so an athlete who was a member of the Russian team can only compete for another country two years after a request from a foreign federation. If an athlete participated in the Russian championships (but was not a member of the national team), he can to represent another country in a year, "Piseev said over the phone.

The President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation Alexander Gorshkov commented on the SE's decision of the executive committee of the federation, which changes the rules for the transfer of Russians to other national teams. The executive committee decided that now a skater participating in the championship or championship of Russia can go only two years after a request from a foreign federation.

"We give other countries skaters, just too much. Yes, they took such a measure. Most importantly, this applies to participants in the championship or championship of Russia, if it comes to the junior level. There are a lot of applicants for our athletes and now, we receive up to 30-40 applications for transition per year, ”said Gorshkov.

Decent list, overjoyed to see everyone on it, though I didn’t really feel Shulepov this season. I guess he has past achievements?

No. He medaled at the Cup final which is important for funding.
