2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

I think it was taken on Rink 4. That rink has an upstairs and have lots of available practice ice. It does not look like Wilmington which is the closest rink. Another possibility is UD which is a rink I am not familiar with.

I think the Senior ladies are skating on Rink 2 not Rink 1.
I just check and ice coverage is correct. Senior ladies are skating on rink 1. Strange. It is a smaller rink than 2 and has less room for spectators. Strange for senior ladies.

The SP is over so I think it’s okay to say Gracie placed third! Hopefully she got a lot of her nerves out today and will do well in the FS!

Pretty good from Gracie!
3Lz-2T - Was really good, she didn't really need to risk going for a 3T, quality was there with just the 2T.
1F- Oops, this was often her nemesis jump. Perhaps switch this out for 3L?
2A- Step out but rotated.

Nice program too.

It's early days yet, we've seen from practices that she has her jumps back but getting it right under pressure in competition isn't easy.

Welcome back Gracie!

Even though it's not the best she could do, I'm honestly really happy and relieved with what Gracie put out today. It's definitely an improvement from Rostelecom and I'm so proud of her for pushing herself to do it. While some may be thrown off by Vincent's posts and this, I think we need to remember the struggles with nerves she's had since the begining. I know as she continues it can only really get better and I'm excited to see where that goes 😁

She skated better than I was expecting, given her score. The judges were awfully hard on her PCS, but I didn't see the others skate so it's difficult to say how she compared. There's a lot of good things to build on, and if she makes it to Sectionals she's got to get a solo jump that's solid (3S) for the SP. She might also get the 75 TES here she needs to have a qualifying score for Nationals, as she's right at 25 and therefore a third of the way there.

I read somewhere that the second place skater already has a bye to Sectionals. Does that mean Gracie only needs to be in the top 5 here?

Gracie's sp TES was 25.41. 75 total is needed for Nationals. She might get the TES minimum from this competition.

Yes, essentially. The best way to think of it is: no matter where the bye (Jill) places, she moves on to Easterns. So, regardless of where the bye places, remove her from the results and take the top 4 scores. That's who goes to Sectionals.
(I guess what I'm getting at is, in this instance, the bye (Jill), can place last and still go to Eastern Sectionals, and the top 4 will move on.)

Good luck to Bradie and Mirai tonight (tonight 11pm eastern time, right, that’s when the ladies begin??) at Japan Open!!!

I’m so proud of Gracie. She looked confident and detemined today. The jumps will come in time, today is just about taking those first steps and learning to be on competitive ice again.

Looking forward to Gracie's LP. Even if she doesn't land it, I look forward to her Lutz/Toe Combo. I know she can do it.

I think the score was fair, she gave 0 face and looked sluggish out there. But props to her for trying her best, she’s made a ton of improvement since last year!

Very glad for Gracie doing a solid first competition event and hoping this carries through tomorrow on the freeskate. It was the highest PCS today so that's awesome. There are many things that go into competition, ability, practice and guts outside of pcs. Today she proved she has a solid first foot forward.

Funny how different perceptions are - I’ve seen a couple of different fancams, and I thought she looked quite fast in places. She did seem to tire towards the end, which worries me for the FS.
