The 2019 Midwestern sectional championships (one of three sectional events) are the final step in the U.S. qualifying competition structure that leads to the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The top four finishers from each sectional advance to the 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.

Good luck to Amber, Hanna, Pooja, Emily, and Vivien in the senior event. Vivien has been scoring pretty low lately, I'm really wishing she can get back to the form she once was in
a few seasons ago when she was hyped.

Any idea why Novice Men have 14 skaters?

I thought that "byes" were only given to Juniors and Seniors. I understand a tie but 2 times? Must be something else.

Both Pacifics and Easterns have 12 so it cannot be the fill up rule.

Question...I see the juvenile division doesn’t have a SP and goes straight to FS. I swear at regionals they skated SP’s

Nope. Juvs only have a freeskate.

In some areas (Skate Detriot), there is a juv short but that is not an "official" event. In areas without a juv short, most top juv skate an intermediate short to get used to skating 2 programs in one competition.

At regionals they skated qualifying rounds. Maybe that's what you're remembering.

Congrats to those who made it the nationals!
Probably a wise decision for Hanna Harrell to change her original plan to do 3Lz+3T to just a solo 3lz after the same combo was deemed < in the SP. Only five triples in the free but I'm glad she made it to the Nats and I hope she'll have a fully rotated 3Lz+3T there. Happy as well for Amber, hopefully she'll prove at the national stage that USFS can't pass on her. Fingers crossed.
Gutted for Vivien and Paige but there are only so many berths available for the nationals, I hope they come back strong.
