2019 World Championships Ladies Free Skate

Sofia Samodurova (RUS)

Tech:

- Good reach for the 3F+3T
- Strong 3Lz, quite square
- Well-landed 3Lo
- Careful through the step sequence, nice poses but could have more speed (Lvl 4)
- Nice center on the flying sit spin (Lvl 4)
- Clean 3S as well
- Strong 2A+3T well in second half
- Good 3F
- Alright 2A+2T+1Lo
- Nice layback spin with godo center
- Good speed through the final spin, good stretch on I-spin.

Pres:

- I'm surprised by some of the lower GOEs she's getting on her jumps, but with Tennell coming before her, the somewhat slower speed and ride-out might not have helped her on that part. But she is extremely consistent! I mean, apart from that 1Lo, she was right on. The crowd wasn't as much into the program as they were at Euros, and she was a little more reserved here, but what a great skate to end her season on.

FS Score: 138.16, TES 71.87, PCS 66.29
Total Score: 208.58 (currently 2nd)

They miscalled her solo 3Lz as a flip at first, hence the initial invalidated 3F.

That was pretty good? She looked gutted.

Omg the cameras following her though... she still needs full body presentation work, but the face she serves is delightful :luv17:

This season might have been Sofia's only chance to go to Europeans and Worlds considering the Juniors who are about to come up and she took full advantage of her opportunities. I don't think anyone in the world had her pegged as European champion a year ago. She doesn't just have consistency (well, up until the end there) but charisma.

Awww, Sofia is so relieved, she probably felt a lot of pressure to prove herself in her first worlds.

I can barely handle Satoko’s beauty! She should get max PCS but we all know What is going to happen :(

I have loved this programme from Sofia all season. But unfortunately, that was not the best performance of it.

At least she has only dropped one place.

Sofia has had such an excellent season - I thought this Worlds would be better for her, but she kept her focus and consistency.

Satoko's dress is fashion goals!

My stream keeps skipping so I'm missing half of this skate, looks good though.

Satoko is really an epitome of exquisite nuance hidden in every move...Her Tango interpretation is really special, like embracing the music in every move, not skating through it, not fighting it. Such sublime operating of pause and motion. She may have small jumps, but she projects big, these edges, fluidity, sophistication and complexity and top notch and no one will convince me otherwise.
