2019 World Championships Mens Short Program

I'll admit I'm Exogenesis'd out, so I spent Vincent's skate listening to Ichat's Korean earworms.

Jin jin jaaaara, jin jin ja ra ~

... I want to see Vincent try something else. Something along the lines of what Boyang tried this season maybe?

Jinjinjara is scarily effective, isn't it  My personal favourite is the Oronamin C ad

Vincent's PCS should be the lowest of the group. This insistence by Tom and Tammy to just not work on the components is getting annoying

muse are a great band, one of my favourites, there're literally tons of song that can be used, why, why everyone skates on this one?

Other than his jumps (which are often UR), the rest of Vincent's skating is not at a terribly high level, compared to the others in the final two groups. Granted, this program is better than his free skate (by quite a margin), but it's not great. There's something about him that rubs me the wrong way, but I can't totally put my finger on it.

Beautiful combo by Vincent. We'll see if the jumps hold up. I don't think this is good music for him and I wish he would get other coaches, but kudos to him for persevering and landing his content!

It's not good music. It has such strong associations with more graceful fluid skaters that it points up a lack of those qualities in VZ's skating...though I do think he's improving. But we'll see.

Vincent Zhou (USA)

Tech: Strong 4Lz+3Trippon (maybe < on 4Lz), maybe fully rotated 4S (a little stiff on the landing), fine sit spin change, alright 3A (a little high on the landing but still good enough for a +2), forceful step sequence, good series of two spins (around the +2 area)

Pres: Definitely still a base value skater, this time the jumps seem around fully (nice that he's doing the 4S which he gets better rotation on), still could work on the quality of his edges and detail with the music

Score: 94.17, TES 52.49, PCS 41.68

(Two jumps probably called <)

I was called by a friend to help her with translations, didn't see much of Vincent Zhou. How much did he UR?

Well Lori sitting with Vincent instead of Tom hopefully portends good things for the future
